when’s the last time you used the fire department? Called the police? Do you hope to get refunds for those services as well?

The quality of students getting the vouchers in LA don’t appear to be our best and brightest. And just changing where a kid is doesn’t fix underlying issues.

what does this have to do with anything? Only the best and brightest deserve a public education?

It is proving that the problem likely isn’t the schools, it is the kids in the schools.

Not that the schools are GOOD by any means, but moving a kid who isn’t taking things seriously for any number of reasons to a different school won’t necessarily fix the problems.

I agree with you, but I don’t feel comfortable putting the on onus on the kid. It’s the parents that should get the blame for that.

It doesn’t matter whether you use Meguiar’s or Turtle wax….

Students at LSP schools consistently perform lower than their peers in traditional public schools

Attendance at an LSP-eligible private school lowers math scores by 0.4 standard deviations and increases the likelihood of a failing score by 50 percent.

In terms of spending, the LSP has increased education spending by nearly $10 million annually.

Oh I see, you’re all for wasting peoples money and poor government education. No school choice, no freedom to protect your kids from government indoctrination, you must obey you must obey.

GTFO here with this bull shite. I can put a kid with an IQ of 150 in a Baton Rouge public school and he’ll never come close to reaching his potential. I can put a kid with an IQ of 80 in Harvard and he won’t make it past the first year.

I love your Jeff Landry tears though. They taste sweet.

Give me my money and let me decide where my kid goes to school. I can tell you want doesn’t work and it’s been proven for 40+ years in all 50 states and that is the public school system, specifically in inner cities. IT DOESN’T WORK. Let’s try something else. Even if it fails, at least we are trying something else.

I encourage you to send your kids to a BR public school and I’m sure you’d be equally pleased with me taking a voucher and sending my kids to an alternative school of my choice.

If they are failing when a fire breaks out or a crime occurs, yes. We pay for execution and success and should expect to receive it.

There are wealthy areas (not gated communities) where residents pay to have security patrol their streets, because city police do not do enough to prevent car and home break-ins. Lots of jugging incidents and even intersections being closed down by street racers.

Yes, the city should be responsible for paying 25-50% for that extra security, for not doing a good enough job. Especially when homeowners in the area needing to do this on there own are paying $50k/year+ in property taxes.

Same people who don't use the crappy/dangerous local public schools for their kids, so nothing wrong with giving them back some of what they pay in to not benefit from...because its a garbage product. Why people don't think the govt should be held accountable for providing a bad product is a ridiculous mentality.
