The OP is BS.

We need 100% statewide school vouchers. Every single dollar of public education money should be dispersed in vouchers. Every family should have choice.

you obviously have no idea how schools work.

Then we pay teachers too much money.

Why is the system a failure considering the expense?

I can’t believe I agree with you on something.

4cubbies is 4commie in my book. Her threads continually show me how an “educated” woman can be so lacking in intelligence that it seriously makes me doubt that women should be allowed to vote.

I’ve paid property taxes since I was 23 and bought my first house. I have 2 kids who have attended private school because government schools have no discipline and no desire to hold anyone accountable. Guess who holds the purse strings? The people. Vouchers will correct the mistake and allow the people to send the kids to schools that will benefit the student. To the parents and kids that don’t care, their life will remain the same until they start caring.

4commies needs to move to Vermont. That’s where you’ll fit in.

Statewide vouchers have decreased test scores

So the reading level dropped to 5th grade level?

At 13 Baltimore City high schools, zero students tested proficient on 2023 state math exam. ZERO!
That makes me wonder more about the validity of the test than the quality of the instruction.

So your contention is 100% of kids in attendance there were raised to "become a disruption" and the school environment is not a substantial contributor to the ZERO exam pass-rate?
This isn’t my contention at all. The home environment has much more impact on test scores than the school environment. Do you expect kids who live in chaos and poverty to be Rhodes Scholars?

quote:

You're saying that if the top 10% of those Baltimore kids got to attend St Paul's in Covington for four years, instead of the ratholes they are stuck in, they'd still fail math proficiency exams?

. Yes. They’d probably get kicked out of St. Paul’s before taking the state test so their scores wouldn’t hurt the school’s average anyway.

That’s more free money that others get than I’ll ever get. The system has been captured by the takers.

Everywhere you see Democrats running school systems whether it be the Board or superintendent, you see corruption and failing schools. My suggestion is we remove the Democrats from education and things will improve dramatically.

Everything is linked in the OP

quote:

Five studies over the past four years concluded overall students’ academic performance did not improve in voucher schools. The studies also found being in a voucher program hurt a student’s math scores.

Teaching gender to failed students seems more important to them than math.

Schools performed best when they were fully controlled by local school districts. Take government out of education and it would improve.

The data doesn’t agree with you. You’re posting purely based on your feelings.

Cubbies, just to be clear, my response was to Jake88. I have to say though that this contention of yours ...

"Yes. They’d probably get kicked out of St. Paul’s before taking the state test so their scores wouldn’t hurt the school’s average anyway."

... really surprises me.

Wrong.

Schools don't perform, kids do.

Public schools have failed. Its time for a new model.

That won’t happen. The people paying for private school will continue paying out of pocket. The ones receiving free lunch and other welfare will benefit from vouchers and be able to send their kids to private schools.

I posted information and agreed with a quote from a Betsy DeVos.

But go off. And y’all call me emotional?

Which gives them a far better chance than inner city schools.

Again, as that finding is nonsensical, who funded the studies?
