Problem is my course. Beau Chene. It’s short as shite and takes driver out of my hands on holes due to the shape and OB fricking everywhere. So to get short irons or wedges you have to be very aggressive off the tee.

Played city park the other day and just bombed away everywhere and jt was awesome. And when I say mid irons I mean 7 iron and below. I just hit them so bad

For example my average carry for my 7 iron is 145-150

Considering your high clubhead speed and high apex on your drives along with the fact you only hit 7 iron 150 yards, im guessing you are a bit flippy at impact, adding loft.

I don’t follow lowering the launch just to match up with tour numbers if you’re hitting fairways and have a consistent shot.

I’d be very careful chasing launch monitor numbers at the expense of on course performance.

ETA: if you can hit driver 290+ carry, there’s absoloutely no way you should hit 7 iron 145-150. Lowering the loft on driver isn’t going to fix that.

I’m trying to comprehend how someone who can carry their driver 290+ only hits a 7 145-150? I carry mine maybe 250 and I hit my 7 165-170. If I drove it 290 I wouldn’t give two shits about apex/spin. I’d work on everything else.

I’m the opposite of you. My best drives are like 260 carry but I’m hitting 170ish with solid accuracy on an 8 iron.

this is missing the forest for the trees....

I'm no expert. I'm not a great golfer. I dont hit it far. I average about 270yds with the driver but when I hit the sweet spot, I'm in the 300-305 range. Having said that, I hit a 7i (not strong lofted) about 175-180. You need to fix this area. You should be able to take a half swing with a 7i and punch it at least 160-165.

You dont need to come down sharp and compress but you cannot be swinging up at the ball either. You'll get way more improvement with your irons than trying to get 5 more yards out of your driver.

How old are your irons? Driver carry 296 does not equate to a 150 yd 7 iron with modern clubs.
