We will likely inherit a decent amount of money and land from my wife's side.

However, I make no financial plans based on this. It will just be something we pass on to our kids.

You're surprised at how many kid's first car is bought by their parents?

School also? I'll just give you the benefit of the doubt and say we are talking about college here. Not as drastic but you're surprised here?

Maybe the OT and I run in different circles than you.

Gonna have a trust for the kids. But will stipulate work requirements and drug testing to get the money on an annual basis. I will not have worthless lazy freeloader kids

I got.... told that a relative got access to my inheritance (its a gray area whether it was legal or not) and invested it with the Stanford Financial Group.

Friend,

Mother’s fourth life insurance plan matures in March of the year of our Lord 2024. I am very aware of my inheritance.

In God’s grace and embrace,

Parents are still alive and haven’t gotten anything so far. Really don’t assume I’ll get anything. Doesn’t bother me though. Pretty proud of what I have accomplished on my own. Not being a hater for those who have received windfalls.

Real answer is I assume pretty much every college educated/master's degree or more, person/couple under 35 living in a 400K+ house and/or driving 2 nice cars had some family financial help, including some/all of their school being paid for and a new car in HS or college.

Otherwise the math doesn't really work in 2023 with general interest rates, house notes, student loans, car payments, and 2 trips a year to Disney. I know that's unfair to the folks who truly came from poor backgrounds with no family help, sorry to lump you in with everyone else.

My answer, not yet, had schollys and loans for undergrad, dad brought me a new $15K car midway through college. Paid insurance and maintenance, and eventually picked up rest of car note.

I’ll be taken care of since I’m an only child and thank goodness my dad is one of the hardest working people I’ve ever known. My mom has been a princess her whole life .

Both parents have plenty of life insurance, my dads got a bunch of heavy equipment , their house is nice , quite a bit of diamonds and jewelry

Downside is they’re all I have so when that day comes , I’ll be like Richard gere in an officer and a gentleman.. “ I got nowhere else to go”

My mother is still alive, but she plans to leave something to my brother and I. I grew up on the edge of poor, and my parents helped me get an education that has allowed me to turn out a pretty comfortable living, so inheritance isn't important for me. I've told my mom to enjoy herself while she can, but she insists on being frugal.

I do plan on leaving a small trust for each of my daughters when I pass.

Nope, in fact me and my siblings take care of our Mom, financially. In laws vow to spend every penny on their way out the door.

We paid for kids' college and bought them a first car. We loan them money from time to time, that they pay back. I'd like to leave an inheritance if we have money left upon death, but the greatest gift I plan to give them is their not having to worry about supporting their parents or paying for our care in our infirmity.

When my grandmother died no one else in the family would pony up a dime to bury her. I had to sell land in a hurry to pay for it.
I didn't even like her.

There's your onheritance.
