Beware of the “cut block”

It is my understanding that Army uses a good bit of Cut Blocking in their offensive scheme to negate their size disadvantage.. if this is the case I’m EXTREMELY worried about injury. If I’m Woody, I make it VERY Clear to Army that they should rethink this technique for this game and if they choose not to their will be legal action for any injuries that come as a result. I would have Gordon on standby and I say that unironically.. he’d be my first choice for a case like that and he’d probably jump at the opportunity.

This is some dumb shite but they don’t even really do it anymore. They did it with the triple option because it’s effective but they don’t run the triple option anymore. They’re primarily out of shotgun.

A couple things here:
1) Army doesn't run the flexbone this year. They are a shotgun spread team with read option concepts and QB design runs.
2) Downfield cut blocking is now illegal in CFB. Which is part of why Army changed their offense. I guarantee Monken is regretting the switch given both Navy and Air Force are both faring better sticking with their triple option offenses.
