Or is there nothing he can do?

Hopefully not. Governor already has too much power in this state.

I hope he brings back the Death Penalty. Too many murderers have gone long without the proper punishment for their heinous crimes.
Old "Honor Code" was all set to take these maggots off of Death Row...Why?
Time for any murderer too meet his or her maker shortly after being found guilty. Forget if the method is inhumane..hell, what they did was inhumane!

It’s a legal proceeding. He has no authority.
What he could do is encourage the legislature to change the laws to make it easier, and sign such a bill, allowing the proponents to try again.
But just like the Latoya recall, tbe people in charge screwed it up.

I'm going to be the first mayor of St George, maybe.

We voted at the ballot box and won. Now I'm planning on voting with my feet. I just have to live for the next 10-12 years without being murdered here so I can get the frick out.
I take solace in the fact that St George wouldn't have saved BR anyway. It might have been a nice bandaid that would have bought us another 10, 15 years. But this state is doomed. Don't be caught without a backup plan when you have to flee somewhere down the road.
We're all just a carjacking or burglary away here and just waiting. Just try to make the collateral damage as little as possible.

I hate JBE, but he didn’t stop St. George, and he did everything he was required to do. He affirmed the petition, set a reasonable date for the vote, and once it passed he signed the transition.
Now where Landry will help is he will get to pick the first mayor and set a date for the election of the new mayor. JBE likely would have chosen someone who would have been favorable to him and his party.

It's in the hands of the Judicial Branch at the moment, nothing the Governor can do, except maybe petition on our behalf to the court (which he could do as AG if this falls before the inauguration). If we lose that, a new petition effort will be started. If we win, Landry won't sabotage us from the start like JBE would with the appointed temporary mayor and city council.

I haven’t lived in B. R. In a long time. Can someone provide a brief clear
explanation of what St George is all about. Carving out a portion of the city for a new town? What’s the purpose? Who’s behind it?

It's really the idiot organizers fault for not filling out the basic paperwork correctly. That's why it was shut down. Sure the courts were dragging their feet and trying to delay the incorporation, but the SG organizers gave them an easy layup by screwing up basic paperwork.

My precinct is within the proposed St G. city. The majority (including me) voted against the resolution to be part of St G. Why are the BR neighborhoods against inclusion not allowed out?

Keep donating to the organizers, that new city is just around the corner!

It has a damn strong chance now.
Still bothers me that the will of the voters is being ignored there. It should already be it’s own city.

Knowing his record - that is, if you do - really believe he would involve himself in something/anything that could expose him to any and all of the "ists/isms?"
It's even interesting to speculate on how he would've handled this recent case in Orleans concerning a Soros District Attorney who only accepts 52% of the most violent arrestees for prosecution and has a 6% conviction rate - being carjacked along with his mother.
A special set of circumstances that require the D.A. to recuse himself in their prosecution, even supposedly the Criminal Court judges, leaving the prosecution of the two accused up to the next, incoming Attorney General - who we here hope is Liz Murrill.
Might've been entertaining with Landry still in that position.
