Is there a universe where LSU wins out, beats Georgia, makes the CFP and plays for a national title?
Initially my thought was hell no but honestly if the defense really gets going, I don’t see anyone on the schedule beating this team. Now, CFP is a completely different animal. I get it. Auburn sucks but you can’t help but think it’s not completely off the table. It happened before in 2007 why not again?
FSU rematch in Houston?

Yes. We are in if we win out. All it takes is for one conference to miss out out of the Big 12, ACC, Big 10 and PAC 12

I don't think its out of the range of possibilty for this team to get it together enough to win a Natty.
I DO think its very unlikely we make the playoffs even if we win the SEC. We'd need some teams to also lose cuz we won't get in over undefeated or one loss teams from Big 10, ACC, Big 12, and Pac 12. Hell I'm not sure we'd get the nod over a one loss UGA even if we are the one loss.

Do you think we have the Jimmy's and Joe's on D to beat GA?
I know everyone on here wants House's head on a platter but sometimes ya gotta work with what you got.
Not saying there isn't room for improvement schematicly.

As of today, UGA, FSU, Big-10 champ, Washington, and OU would be ahead of us. We will get a chance to take care of UGA. Will need some help from somewhere else.

I hate to be Negative Nancy, but our defense does not have the pieces to become a National Championship caliber defense. Too far to go. We can beat anybody on our schedule, but we can’t beat them all.

I think it’s very likely we make it to the playoffs if we win out however I think it’s very unlikely we win out. Just enjoy the season man.

Depends on Wash, big10, FSU, and OU
Probably would need pac12 champ to have 2 losses

What really sucks is if we had next years format of 12 teams, we would get our chance to play it out on the field at the end of the year. The offensive would really give us a chance to make a splash in a 12 team playoff.

right now would need a lot of help.
if FSU goes undefeated, B1G champ has 1 loss or less, PAC12 champ has 1 loss or less and Big12 champ has 1 loss or less.....even if LSU beats UGA in SECCG...both teams are left out.
You need 1 of these, possibly 2 to happen to get in
B1G- need OSU, Mich, PSU to all have atleast 1 loss and have Iowa upset them in the B1GCG
ACC- UNC- needs to lose to clemson, then beat FSU in ACCCG
Big12- need OU to lose to OK State then beat texas in Big12CG
Pac12- Need Oregon to lose, washington lose and then oregon get revenge in Pac12CG

Yes all that is true. Unfortunately our defense will have to play great every Saturday. I really do not see that happening.

Beating Missouri and Auburn doesn’t get me fired up. Our defense has problems. FSU would beat us by the same about if we played them next week.

There’s no way people are talking like we’re gonna make playoffs lmao
Posted on 10/16/23 at 1:42 pm to turnpiketiger
Would be nice to have that 12 team playoff. We’d for sure be in.
Posted on 10/16/23 at 1:43 pm to turnpiketiger
Well it happened when only 2 teams made the finals. Now 4 teams make the finals, so yes it's very possible.

If this happens, then the SEC will likely have no team in the playoff for the first time ever. If other conferences have no or 1 loss champions, they get in over LSU.

The losses are in regulation tho.

I don't think a 2 loss SEC champ LSU gets in over ANY 1 loss champ from another conference. There is, however, a potential road map for a 2 loss LSU to get in over another 1 loss power conf. team. If that 1 loss comes in a conf. championship game.
Look at 2017 for reference.
Going into the conference championship game weekend 10-2 Auburn was ranked #2 in the CFP poll behind only 11-1 Clemson. That ranking was achieved by Auburn beating No. 1 Georgia then No. 1 Alabama in the course of the final 3 games of the season.
Behind Auburn in the rankings were:
3. Oklahoma (11-1) Big 12 leader
4. Wisconsin (12-0) Big 10 leader
5. Alabama (11-1)
6. Georgia (11-1)
Auburn lost to Georgia in the SEC championship game to finish 10-3 and out of the playoffs. (which allowed Alabama, for the second time in the BCS/CFP era to backdoor their way into the BCSCG/CFP without having to play a conf. championship game). However, had Auburn won it was very hard to foresee a situation where the SEC champ who was #2 going into the week was going to drop out of the top 4. Of course, it is also worth noting the Pac-12 was not in contention for a spot.
The real crime was 12-0 Wisconsin being left out in favor of Alabama after they lost the Big 10 CG to Ohio State That showed the inequity of conference championship games. Without them, both Auburn and Wisconsin are in the playoffs. But both were forced to play a 13th game...which they lost...while Alabama was rewarded for not having to play a 13th game. A game they didn't qualify for because Auburn beat them.
IMO, for LSU to get in as a 2 loss team they would need at least one conference to fall out of contention by the time championship saturday comes around (like the Pac 12 did in 2017). If that happens, it sets up a potential scenario where a 2 loss SEC champ could jump a 1 loss conference championship game loser like Georgia and Alabama were able to do once Wisconsin lost.
