Aw shite NOT THE DOG LEVEE!

The levee would still be there and open to the public. You'd just be able to hear music or sip on cocktail while your dog tries to hump a toy poodle.

You really can't make out what color they are from the renderings. You're just trying too hard

I don't think I would build anything that the COE could shut down and make a tremendous pita over native plants next door to the HQ.

Not a bad idea to have a bar/restaurant out there, maybe a little overambitious to make an entire district out of it though.

Only downside would be if the traffic clogged up exiting The Fly. Feels like a little nature sanctuary out there, would hate for that vibe to be affected.

Hope this can happen and not get shut down like the pontchatrain beach redevelopment. I am all for folks in new Orleans having better water front access and amenities whether it be along the lakeshore or the levee.

I assume we will never see it again but would love to see the RTA bring back the ferry service between canal street and the fly. You could really make a great day of it with kids taking the ferry downtown and the street car back uptown.

This can't be overstated. I lived in and watched first hand the failure of the project in Shreveport and later the downtown revitalization in BR. Both started great and then crashed and burned as soon as large groups of youths started hanging out on the corners. Street fights were quickly followed by muggings and car burglaries which then turned to shootings and Poof! all the paying patrons disappeared.

I see this happening with this project as well.

New Orleans needs more entertainment developments which include access to the river

Without better leadership & focus on controlling crime, none of it matters.

Yup.

It’s like saying “we can leave food out here, there aren’t any ants”

Not at all. Hope this comes to fruition. Utilizing the river and lake fronts is long overdue.

so basically a profitable version of the Fly,

I mean…that’s a good idea.

For a city surrounded by water, NOLA has very few good upscale waterside options.

I never said its a bad idea bunch. However the viability of something like this vs in 2015 has certainly changed a bit i would think. It will cost a ton of money and the vendors that inhabit this development will reflect that.
