Hitler had no intention of fighting the British. Had they bowed out, it would have been over for the Brits

Maybe hitler takes Britain and, like in Risk, says "I'm done". And Europe/Germany negotiate a soft truce with Russia. Within a few years all 3 superpowers have the bomb. Does Korea happen? VietNam?

Would Hitler have been satisfied with ruling all of Europe? My guess is he would have for a time but once he realized his mortality he'd have gone after the USSR.

What would have happened to France? Britain? Spain? ETC. under Hitler? As awful as the reality was, the alternative was worse. No telling what that lunatic would have done with nuclear weapons.

So he actually had no interest in conquering Britain and saw them as natural allies. Had Britain bowed out of the war, there is no way he invades them. The Soviet Union was always his natural enemy and the one he wanted to invade for "living space" for the Germans.

This is a great map of what he wanted Germany to look like:

No jews, so the Nazis and Allahu snackbars would have been fighting each other for the last 40 years.

:let them fight:

We have a Cold War with Germany instead of the USSR.

The civil rights movement links the Dixiecrats to those godless Nazis.

I’ve read accounts where Hitler would have even allowed Britain to retain much of its Empire. He had no desire to subjugate Britain.

We’d all be joking about “at least they’re not speaking English”

Europe would be whiter and there'd be less of an oil slick on the Med.

It makes no sense how after all the moves Germany made leading up to 1939, France and the UK put it all on the line over Poland, a country that had only been around for 20 years in their lifetime. Then after declaring war they both did all jack shite to help Poland and didn’t retaliate against Germany. France definitely fricked around and found out and the UK is lucky they didn’t as well.

As for lend lease, if the UK isn’t in the war I don’t see the US helping the Soviets very much in a exclusively German/Soviet war. We would have see it as Eastern Europe’s problem. Without the UK in the war Germany probably doesn’t declare war on the US either. The US’ extensive help given to the British was a big factor with that declaration. Hitler even said he regrettably had to declare war on the US. Much like the British he had no deep seeded hatred for either.

Even if Germany knocked Britain out, they weren’t taking out Russia. Invading Russia has always been a logistical nightmare because it is THAT goddamn big and the Russians have shown a willingness to trade bodies and space for time.

Only if the US stopped lend-lease with Russia. Stalin and Krutschev both said they would not have been able to fend off Russia without the food, materials, and equipment the US sent over to them.

The big thing would have been if Stalingrad fell and the Germans got access to the Russian oil fields.

Taking Stalingrad was irrelevant, the Germany Army in the fall of 1942 was a shell of the army of June 1941 and relied heavily on poorly trained and equipped Axis allies to cover their horribly overextended flank.

Even if they reached the oil fields and took Stalingrad they had little ability to ship significant quantities and they simply didn't have the manpower anymore to hold the entire flank. They ended up being fortunate the Soviets didn't cut off the entire Army Group A in the Caucuses before the evacuation.

There's no guarantee of that. The eastern front was the far bigger burden to bear.
