Let’s hear your stories on shows you attended at the now closed down State Palace. My top 2 were Tool and NIN in the 90’s. The tool show Maynard got nekkid on stage and nobody was arrested. Truly different times.

Went to see Cypress Hill open for the Beasties and Flea was behind us (balcony) and going nuts dancing. At least that’s what I remember.

Phish with Medeski Martin and Wood opening. 1995. My first time with both bands and venue.

Prong, sepultura, and pantera together then belly, primus, incubus I think that’s it I’ve seen a lot of bands at different venues between New Orleans and fat city they all kinda bleed together. Those shows were good but since you got me going down memory lane some other good shows were weezer at tipitinas, acid bath at tipitinas and other Dax projects like agents and dead boy at different places, C.O.C at twiropa, Dillinger escape plan at house of blues and some place I can’t remember the name, blind melon and Lenny kravitz at UNO, pantera again at UNO. So many more I won’t list them all.

Pantera with Sepultura in 1994. fricking insanely intense.

Pantera, Sepultura, Prong
1994
I was way too young to be going to this. People were getting patted down to get in. They pulled a switch blade off a guy getting patted down in front of me.
At the conclusion: Phil told the crowd:
1) worship the devil
2) do drugs
3) frick without condoms.
All the while his parents were in the balcony to the right of the stage
Good time. Lol

NIN in the 90’s
The performance of Big Man With A Gun on Closure from that show is insane.
I caught Manson on the Antichrist Superstar and Mechanical Animals tours there. Those were the golden times.

Used to go to movies there in the 1960s when the main movie theaters in town were the Saenger, the Orpheum and the Lowe’s.
