The president's latest step will help 125,000 borrowers by erasing $9 billion in debt through existing relief programs. In total, 3.6 million borrowers will have had $127 billion in debt wiped out since Biden took office.

Of all the things we can waste money on this one isn't exactly the worst

Yeah let's worry about $9 billion to help Americans and ignore the $7.8 TRILLION trump added to the national debt. Really got your priorities straight here....

just when payments go back into effect, which would help reduce the rate of inflation, lets hand out some more free money to offset that inflation reduction.

In total, 3.6 million borrowers will have had $127 billion in debt paid for by other people that will see no benefit whatsoever from their 'education' since Biden took office.

If my loan contract indicates loan forgiveness after working in certain health and public sectors for 10 years, then that's what should fricking happen. Potato is enforcing existing contract rules. Why is that a problem? The govt/creditors knew that when they signed the contract.

Yea let's take 9 billion from the tax payers and only give it back to people that were fortunate enough to go to college. I'm a college graduate but that's bull. Somebody that went straight to work in the trades should not be subsidizing college students.

hence why i put "forgive" in quotations in the title.
he's using it as a win for campaigning when this "forgiveness" was going to happen anyway. biden didnt really do shite, but make no mistake, your tax dollars are still being used to pay off loans for people with shite degrees who most likely wont ever make any meaningful contributions to society.

You willingly sign your name on any loan papers, you are responsible to pay it back. It's not every other tax payer's responsibility. This nanny state bullshite needs to stop.
Now, go try and backpedal and blame Trump, trolls.

SPENDING what we don’t have is. It’s not 9 billion. Or the total so far you conveniently didn’t use.. it’s the total of useless friken shite. Billions here for loans, billions there for Ukraine, billions here for useless grants, billions to Africa to be stolen by warlords, billions for illegals, billions added to public assistance for people who refuse to work.. and on and on and on.
I can’t for the life of me understand why so many idiots are sympathizing with morons who voluntarily signed on to a loan and are now wanting to get out of it… after reaping the benefits of it… while people who PAID theirs get nothing but another bill to pay other people’s loans.
It’s also astounding that the same people who worry about social security and Medicare so much want to hand out money whenever a hand pops open. “We havin to pay for boomers social security!!!” And in the next breath you want billions for proxy wars, billions for loan forgiveness, billions for people coming to this country for freebies, billions for “green” energy, and on and on and on.
Where is my money? I paid mine. Hell.. I’ll take a tax credit for the amount. Anything??
MORE rewards for freeloaders and the bill is passed to taxpayers. AGAIN.

Didn't the SC already overrule this scheme? How is this one going to get past legal challenges?

I don't know if I would call having to saddle oneself in debt in order to attend college fortunate.
