Gaetz is the only reason McCarthy and the Dems didn't ram home a CR on Monday and take a vacation.

You mean the CR they tried to pass with spending cuts and money for border security? A CR that was undoubtedly preferable to the majority of his conference including Gaetz and the far right? He ended up with something worse than he could have had. What was the point to it?

Some of us tend to forget, the parties involved are not merely Gaetz and whichever others would “side” with him -and- the Democrats. There’s also the small matter of the other group of Republicans in the House that outnumber the Gaetz Group. McCarthy’s obligation and overarching task is not to represent and lead only the Gaetz Group…..he’s also got to manage the other group, the majority one, and beat his head against the wall attempting to herd all those cats into some semblance of unity and agreement. McCarthy goes all in for the Gaetz Group….the other then revolts and you have no leverage against the Democrats. Go all in for the other “majority” group……Gaetz throws a fit, and again, no leverage. McCarthy can’t physically force the two sections/sides to bend to the will of the other. Both groups are selfishly grandstanding and making various individual moves to improve their own personal positions. Pathetic all the way around. The only person who wants to actually get something done WITH the input of the Republicans is McCarthy.

Gaetz is conducting himself exactly like the left in dictating to the entire party that it’s either agreement with his exact “principles” and demands, or take the entire House membership down insomuch as what should be the position of dictating to the Democrats, not to your own party.

Are you aware the terms Gaetz and the other holdouts laid out was agreed to by Kevin McCarthy? Simply because Gaetz is the most vocal of the group does not make this his agreement solely. So your entire premise is false.

No, that’s incorrect. That you even try to dictate to me what my actual premise is, it’s yet more evidence of the severe problems within the Republican Party, both in Washington and out amongst the voters.

My premise is based on the situation on the ground as it exists at the relevant moment, as well as a look towards the bigger picture of not just tomorrow or next week, but next year.

Principles don’t pay the bills, taking the best possible action under all relevant circumstances and conditions in the specific moment is what gets you to the next opportunity, to the next, and so on does pay the bills.

Y’all want a perfect scenario wherein your boxes are checked and we achieve the ideal outcome. The government is far too fricked up at the fundamental levels to expect perfection at this particular point in history. Your task is to make the least bitter lemonade with all the lemons we have before us.

Except unlike the left and almost everyone on the right, Matt gaetz is doing what the majority of Americans want.

Gasp! He is trying to represent the people! The horror!

Not that I don’t wish that was the situation. I don’t believe that’s anywhere near the reality of the situation. But of course it’s such a broad assertion, you may just be referring to a particular issue or two, in which case possibly you could be accurate. Maybe. But I don’t even think so in that limited context. From where do you derive that assertion, that the majority of the country aligns with Gaetz in this context??

Gaetz is obviously tagging AOC behind the scenes. He can’t admit and she won’t admit it either. There is very few honest politicians and close to zero of them in DC. They put on the face that gets them elected then they switch to the face to get the grift in gear .

I for one would count that as a positive attribute for Gaetz if so. I guarantee you, get AOC naked in the sack, that political sass immediately disappears for a spell. If you play your cards right of course.

Gaetz represents Gaetz first and foremost.

I just wonder who is pulling his strings. Is it Chip Roy on behalf of Ted Cruz or Trump

Youre still rewarding a psychopath, which is why women continue their reign of terror. Simps will sleep with anything.

In your initial post you said this was all on Gaetz. That is false. It will always be false.

I, nor anyone I know, wants perfection. I’m at the point where I simply want to be solvent. If that means we spend one penny less than we take in and fund ridiculous shite in the process, fine.

But if that’s not going to happen, then I want it to burn to the ground, and the sooner the better
