I work a 4-10 schedule and love my 3 day weekends. I rarely need to take vacation days since I have Fridays off.
I too would take the 4-10s but ONLY if i could get Mondays off, not Fridays.. Why ? Because Mondays freaking suck, and other people are usually in a bad mood too.. I never mind working on Fridays for obvious reasons, and becuase everyone else is usually in a better mood as well.. Either way, you still get a three day weekend every single week, and id rather Tuesday be “my Monday” since, psychologically, most interactions would be better .

Money is more important to me. Time off ain’t gonna buy a house or pay for retirement.
Being at office for 11 hours (assuming 1 hour lunch) don’t sound great to me but I have always been an 8 to 5 guy

Does a long commute/ gas / vehicle wear and tear factor in?
Does the new job set you up better in the long term from a skills / growth perspective?

I prefer a career not a job so I don’t worry about a shift schedule.

That’s having to work an extra 52 days a year to earn that extra $3.75 an hour
That’s 52 more commutes to work
That’s 52 more commutes from work
That’s 52 more times having to deal with work bullshite
frick that
Of course this assumes the commutes are equal
If the 5 8s offer a shorter commute that would be worth considering
Also you have a lot more free time with an 8 hour day as opposed to a 10 hour day. All about personal preferences but all things equal I would prefer the 4-10 schedule.

Problem with you young pukes today, if you’d had it like me and your grandparents did, you’d jump at the chance to make that extra money.
But since every damn thing is given to you young entitled punks just tell them to mail you a check and sit home and do nothing
I’m getting sick and tired of being fed up with you young slime balls.

sound like you answer your own question. if money not tight then 4-10
Posted on 9/30/23 at 5:35 pm to Erdace
Are y'all saying y'all work 40 hrs a week. I wish

Yes, the other job is $3.75 more per hour but god damn I'd be lying if I said 4-10s has made my life a lot better
Then what’s the question. $150 more per week when you admit the previous schedule isn’t better. Sounds like a no-brainer to me.

4 -10’s … had problems hiring after Covid and we went to 4 day work weeks. Best thing we ever did for employees.

Best schedule in the world. I had a rotating 4-10 schedule once. Basically one week you only had Saturday and Sunday off(That short weekend you were also on call, but rarely got called out.) Next week You had a completely free 4 days with Friday and Monday also being off.

410s is great but I loved the Monday off not the Friday

Neither.
I’ve worked many 12’s and 14’s.
Now I don’t have to work.
Retired.
