Holy hell. She should find somewhere cheaper.

I’m sad this thread got moved from the OT because you are blaming Biden for your daughter’s inability to budget and live within her means.
She is spending more than 50% of her take home pay on rent. And has student loans. Does she intend to ever try and save for retirement? Or is she just relying on Trump and Biden saying social security will be protected.

The mere fact that Joe Biden lied to everyone on a national stage knowing this would never pass just to trick the population into thinking their school loans would get paid in order to motivate them to vote blue at mid terms
The problem is they'll vote blue in 2024 anyway.

If the money is being thrown away to another country, do it on us first not the fricking ukraine/middle east/etc...all these idiots here talk about well i paid my loan back and they should too with insults toward me and my family yada yada but if there loans got forgiven back whenever not one swinging dick would say a fricking word, the would shut their mouthes and continue forward, bunch of fricking hypocrits...our politicians dont get paid to pay out debt in our country. Making donations to other countries does. Selling your soul to devil is a big thing these days in congress.
agree that wiping it out is a more prudent investment than giving it to Ukraine where it disappears.

why not invest "instead" in "our" future and pay some school loans off? This bs altered alot of people's budgeting.
Screw you dude. I agree with that all that money should be invested in our country and not some other country. But why should a select few benefit from that. If they would invest the money we are sending to every other country back in our country where EVERY SINGLE AMERICAN would benefit I wouldn’t have a problem with that. Your daughter made the loan and she should have to pay it back. Maybe if the government would pay my mortgage off I could get on that train but you know that will never happen. And it shouldn’t happen either because I made the loan and knew that I would be responsible for repaying it. Maybe if the damm government wouldn’t have paused the loan payments the people whining about this wouldn’t have spent the money for their loan on other crap

All you figs "troll game" is weak. I never said anything about my kid not paying her loans off of which in fact she is doing easily. I was referring to what many other people do and what is happening, but yet you idiots seem to mix the two throwing around insults. You people must have miserable wives and children being around you idiots.

Why not help people stricken with cancer with no money basically dying off because they dont have enough money to get the best treatment? The list goes on. We give 100s of billions dollars away to other countries for kickbacks and could give a shite about our own problems? Screw me? Come on man.
But why should a select few benefit from that.

So she makes $108,000 a year. With $3,300 in rent, she is spending 37% of her gross income on rent and, more importantly, more than 50% of what she takes home after taxes.
She is in debt and living above her means.

However, if the fricking federal govt can "give" away billions upon billions of dollars to the middle east, Ukraine and other countries for kick backs and no one on the federal level says a word about it, but yet they are against helping the people who are the future of this country. Why not invest "instead" in "our" future and pay some school loans off
We should do neither.
This isn’t some money fairy that is spending make believe money.
FFS.

If you take out a loan then pay it back…it’s pretty simple. Can’t afford it, don’t do it! I don’t like my tax dollars going to Ukraine or irresponsible folks!

quote:not even close. Id never pay that much. My note is 2400 for my house note. She pays rent. Her audi is paid for and she has 26k in her checking . How is she living above her means when she has over 4k left over after bills each month? Dont hate. Your just a idiot with a weak troll game.

Because she doesn’t. $9,000 a month is ~$6800 in take home after taxes as a single person filer with no dependents. She is taking home $3,500 a month before paying any bill other than rent or saving. That will go fast in whatever high cost of living area she lives in.
And before you crawfish and say the $9,000 is net after taxes - you’ve already said in this thread she has the potential to one day earn $150,000 - $200,000.
So to summarize, your daughter is a 23 year old CPA with a masters degree, a fully paid off Audi, makes $108,000, and yet you are here grousing because the government is going to collect on her $40,000 student loan balance.

if you read this thread you'll see that she was callin to ask a question about consolidation of different school loans. She hung up when she saw it was a 400 minute wait
Income based repayment is available to all borrowers and is 10% of annual income. Not a single borrower should be whining about their repayment plan. All it takes is a modicum of preparation.

Every day I’m more grateful that I never took college loans. Took me a hell of a lot longer than 4 years to graduate but 0 debt. The wife had roughly $15k left when the payments were paused and I kept paying them and they’re now down below $10k. I’m not in any particular hurry to pay it off but I’ll be happy when they’re gone. I didn’t want to pay them down below $10k when there was a chance of forgiveness. Didn’t believe it would get passed and I sure as hell wasn’t going to vote for it but I wasn’t going to get fricked paying for everyone else’s notes and not have the wife’s note “forgiven”.

Seems like a lot. She could have gone to one of the cheaper Louisiana schools and achieved the same without the 40k in loans.
