Look man… it’s time for those 18-26 year olds who drive brand new 4runners to get off their high horse and start paying. Time to realize their budget.

Scrambling? It takes 5 min to set up automatic payments online. Why tf she calling them just go to their website

i think it was a bit deeper than this, but i get what you're saying.

Most people tho arent conditioned to say "hey i got a 2 year break from my loans, im gonna make sure to dont use up that room/space in my budget so i can pay that 500 a month in 2 years"

People got into debt. Its how people are.

Gotta be people who are trying to find ways out of it thinking the phone reps have a hidden option.

I paid back my $40,000 in student loans. There's no reason everyone else shouldn't have to pay theirs back too.

If these two conditions existed:

1. the government was not involved in college loans
2. college loans could be discharged with bankruptcy

Then ……. College would cost 35% of what it does now.

I believe it'd be less than that given those two items.

Actually, #1 is easily the more important of the 2. From the perspective of a bank, Bankruptcy is not all that different than borrowers simply not paying back their loans.

Sounds like they were doomed to fail anyway, if that is their approach to finances.
. Unfortunately many people do this. My daughter is fortunate. She has her master's degree and passed all 5 cpa exams(to be certified as a cpa)finally and she is set to make an earning potential of 150-200k one day. She already makes pretty good bank so. 40k is a drop in bucket at low rates to pay back.

thats not what i said. I said Joe Biden promised loan forgiveness got the federal govt in on it to get votes for mid term.(didnt work but)

My daughter doesnt need a handout. My daughter took care of her life financially by becoming a professional. If someone comes to your door and offers you a 100 dollar bill, will you say no? That's what i thought. The 0 percent wasnt the focus. That halt in paying was. It should have been you "repay but at zero percent" not dont pay for 3 yrs. Try to know what your talking about.

This is the problem honestly for so many people. Every car we paid off I instantly set up an account to keep making automated payments to. Once you are used to money not being in your budget, the worst thing you can do is reintroduce it to your budget. You can’t do that unless you know it will stay there. It’s really easy to get used to that new sugar.

So you blame Biden for trying it but not the Republicans who forced a lawsuit on it?

Oh, well. I haven't paid mine or my wife's since the pause started, but we paid off two vehicles with stupid interest rates, saved up for a down payment on a new home and began construction, sold our home for a nice profit, saved up enough to pay hers off with the click of a mouse, and stashed away the money I would normally pay towards student loans. The sad fact of the matter is that I would've paid off only 25% of what I owe during the pause had I opted to do so. And I wouldn't be where I'm at financially either.

A very large portion of the population needs to learn simple budgeting and keep tabs on their shite a lot better than they do.

I, for one, didn't want to pay because if by some miracle Biden delivered on his "promise," I'm out all that money I just paid and I don't have the cushion I have now to deal with the rampant inflation that would result.

We're fully prepared and willing to pay back the debt we owe. It's not our fault others were living well beyond their means and fantasizing about a pipe dream of loan forgiveness. We live in reality, so this was no surprise. I don't feel sorry for the people who believe the government is their friend and wound up in a shite situation as a result. The writing was on the wall.

when you get the federal govt involved on student.gov , you gotta admit it was a pretty decieving trick. You had to go online on that site and fill out information to get loans forgived. Just saying.

Why would I pay if there was the smallest chance of them being forgiven?
