We did a case study on that car in my Masters level marketing class. The verdict was, you can make an amazing , cool car, little head of its time, but your reputation and image with the public can make it a failure. They tried to capture a demographic that didn’t want anything to do with them.
Younger folks would see the car, say what is that, that’s pretty cool, oh, it’s a Buick.

My buddy’s ‘88 Camaro had a CD player. Like mentioned before, it skipped a lot.

I was as watching a classic early 1980’s or late 1970’s Price is Right episode and and I had to chuckle when the announcer described the car having an AM radio, I thought by this age you would have gotten a standard AM/FM radio. I know cassettes were always extra, but FM too, and if you were balling you got you an 8 track player. CD’s were not really offered until the 1990’s.
Then Ford started putting nonstandard radios built into the dash that made changing your radio a pain in the arse since you had to rip out the entire instrument panel to add the latest and greatest Pioneer radio that you could pop out the faceplate to prevent theft.

I was dating a girl in college that when they graduated her father bought her and her brother a car of their choice (with whatever budget he set I think was around $40k). Her brother chose a Porsche 944 Turbo the year before, she graduated in '89 and chose a Reatta. I am absolutely not kidding when I say that choice was a significant part of the reason I broke up with her. While I am sure she didn't want a car like the 944 turning down all the excellent cars available to her within the budget to get a fricking Reatta let me know how poor her decision-making was.
I guess I shouldn't have been surprised at her poor choices given the fact she dated me in college willingly and without payment.

My E36 M3 did not come with cupholders but they sold an accessory at the dealership that worked and looked pretty much stock. I wonder if the M5 had those at the time.

86 or 89 Riveria had the CRT display. Loved that, but they didn't last too long.

It is always interesting to see colloquial phrases. In my neck of the woods, people bagged groceries, I don't think I have ever heard "sacked" before.
