The best idea for the French quarter was from Billy Nungesser. Make it a national park, which it SHOULD be. It’s very historical and needs protection. Let the vice move to the bywater/ desire area.

He and a bunch of elected officials and business people proposed to make it into a district like the Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego and Teedy shot them all down and ended the meeting say something like, "The French Quarter is mine"

Actually just the opposite. Teedy doesn’t want a car free quarter.

There are places just like the FQ all over the world that people live and work in, that have gone to (mostly) car free zones and they operate just fine, in fact, they are substantially improved because of it.

How do you expect the towing services to make any money when they can’t tow somebody who runs into a shop for 5 minutes?

F all you "walkable cities" people.
Nah. frick all you fatties who have to take a car everywhere you go.
Walkable city centers with no/limited car access are the way to go.

Exactly. The stupid “people live there” comments are pretty dumb.

The simple fact that you believe walking several blocks in the humid heat of New Orleans is superior to traveling in an air conditioned vehicle, calls your judgement into question.

Go to Florence. Amsterdam. City Center of Madrid. Old Barcelona. There are places in the States too.
It makes the experience better. The problem for the FQ is lack of available nearby safe parking. That would need to be adequately addressed.
There are many, many logistical problems, and I think you would obviously have to let actual residents be allowed to enter.
But there is no denying that less cars in the FQ would make it more enjoyable.

I don't go to the FQ very often. I fail to see your point
Less cars in the FQ would make the FQ better for almost everyone.
This isn't even controversial.

Getting rid of cars wouldnt be thing I’d choose to make the Quarter more enjoyable.

I am not saying getting rid of them entirely, but lessening the access would be a good thing.
Obviously it would be one of many things needed.

Alright, what's to stop people from printing out fake Uber/Lyft stickers for their car?

Speaking of, here’s an 18 wheeler trying to make a turn in the FQ today to disastrous results
