I'm not too rustled by this. If they are the new U or whatever, that is fine.
He and CU are getting a lot of early season hype because the media is bending over backwards to hype them and Deion is having rappers show up at the game. That's fine. I'm sure CU is enjoying it because they haven't really been relevant in almost 3 decades. Plus, there weren't a ton of great games early in the season.
CU is now entering Pac 12 play...which has several good teams...and will likely start to get thumped. That's fine. That was kind of expected. However, I doubt they become the new "U" for one big reason....Boulder, CO is not Miami, FL.
There may not be a better concentration of great football players than in the Miami metro area. The genius of Howard Schnellenberger was that for the first time ever he was going to recruit the ghettos of Miami to get that talent to attend an otherwise (from a sports perspective) relatively small private school in Miami. Schnellenberger didn't have to go all that far to build some powerhouse teams. He pulled in most of the best of South Florida and then supplemented the QB spot with Western PA area players.
Prime will get a few guys to leave the south, or Los Angeles, but not enough to make a huge difference because unlike in the early 80's, the Georgias, Alabamas, LSUs, etc of the world aren't as reluctant to bring in inner-city kids.
Prime and Colorado have been a fun story for college football thus far. But that novelty will eventually wear off and they won't be able to have the success of a 1980's Miami in a MUCH different social climate among college football.

Boulder might be the whitest city in America. Hilarious.
And the non-collegiate athlete black people that do live in Boulder look like this:

I've spent a fair amount of time in Boulder over the past four decades visiting a friend who has lived there. The image of football players walking down the main street of the campus ....whatever the high plains version of "fish out of water" is.
Are the players tested for drugs? All the different strains of MaryJane to test.
Will South Park dare to go there?

They make it pretty damn obvious that their version of "black" doesn't actually have anything to do with race and is instead based on behaviors.
They act like white people never hate white coaches. I don’t think my dad would piss on Steve Spurrier if he was on fire
If Lane Kiffin had a legion of cult followers outside of Ole Miss’ fanbase that unconditionally defended him from all of his bullshite, it would only escalate the hate. Nothing to do with race

Then why shouldn't Penn State, Maryland, Syracuse, Virginia Notre Dame, Colorado State and formerly Michigan State all get that same support?
Recent football fans are not as likely to be familiar with all of those coaches.

Marcus Freeman is black, right? You know, the head coach of one of the most iconic football programs in the country (love them or hate them)... Or does he not count because of his white wife, well spoken demeanor, and lack of gold chains? They make it pretty damn obvious that their version of "black" doesn't actually have anything to do with race and is instead based on behaviors.
This board is now willing to become more supportive of black football coaches now that they’ve identified the ones more likely to conform to western norms

Then they aren't football fans. They're fans of a personality.

You’re on the right track. This board would consider White Deion to be the biggest douchebag in college sports. Do you agree?

Sure they are. Being black isnt just who they are it is their religion and Dion is viewed as sort of a messiah.
