If you obtained your dog through a kennel/breeder did you get any guff from people telling you shouldn’t have gone that route?

Yes, but I always ask those people why would they have their own children when there are plenty in orphanages and 3rd world countries that don’t have parents? How selfish of them to not think of those kids.

Usually shuts them up.

It’s my dog, honestly don’t give a frick what their opinion is about it.

No. I simply explain I got my dogs because my kids have horrible pet dander allergies so the breeds we got allow us to own dogs and not have kids go into anaphylactic shock.

Forums are not an important part of my life.

I have a few use it or lose it days to take. This passes time, but I don't lie awake at night phone in hand worried about a forum. This place obviously means more to you than to me.

I like to ask people with fancy dogs if they bought it from a breeder.

I’ll also ask Indian couples if their marriages are arranged.

And I ask couples from Alabama if they buy 2 anniversary gifts for their parents or do they pool their money and just buy one?

They're only half siblings, so we get them a gift and a card.

Oddly, no one has ever inquired as to the provenance of my dogs.

When I was looking for one, one of my more sanctimonious friends made several FB posts for me to be “so so sure I rescued!!! It’s the only right thiiiing to dooooo!!!” It almost made me find a puppy mill for spite.

Both of mine are rescues, but the previous two were from small breeders.

On the OT you're more likely to get shite on if you get a rescue dog.
