Writers and producers are near an agreement to end the Writers Guild of America strike after meeting face to face on Wednesday, people close to the negotiations told CNBC.

The two sides met and hope to finalize a deal Thursday, the sources said. While optimistic, the people noted, however, that if a deal is not reached the strike could last through the end of the year.

I could go a year or two without new content and still have new to me stuff to watch

That and there's still interesting content on Youtube

Truth. I haven't even put a dent in the backlog yet.

So it is true, since it can’t be farther?

Oh joy, now I get to have politics inserted back into all entertainment as if that is something unique and unusual.

I would wager a majority of Americans do not care.

There was nothing political about my comment.

At first I was concerned about the strike, but then I just went on living my life.

No, but there will be political stuff when the writers resume writing.

No, I was referring to the pending "new" writing coming out of Hollywood writers. I have not had a TV show preach to me since they when on strike. As far as I am concerned, they can stay on strike.

The vast majority of people do not care for now.

This strike has been a blip on the radar as compared to the last one, which got constant, mass coverage.

2 reasons IMO:

1. There's already a shite ton of content for people to watch and Hollywood hasn't put out many good movies over the past 6-7 years.

2. AI: A lot of the people that might normally support the unions from a political standpoint are also very pro-AI and AI is going to play a big role in the industry going forward. (The left wing tech crowd is very pro-AI)
