At district tournament yesterday. Spoke with her and her mother and she has no college offers. Her best round is a 66. She shot 2 strokes behind another junior last year committed to Arkansas and still has zero offers. Mother said it has been a nightmare trying to get her recognized. This is hard to believe.

I sure hope that someone has built the young women's online profile with stats, accomplishments, bio, etc.
Sports like golf and swimming aren't recruited like football and baseball, etc.

She should also be playing in other am tournaments not just school tournaments.

She needs to or needed to be playing in AJGA events. That is really the Junior circuit that college coaches pay attention to

College coaches don't care what you do in high school district tournaments, they want to see what you do against tough competition on tough golf courses. The boys play from around 6300-6500 yards in high school district matches and that isn't long enough for them to see how they will play in college which is from the tips at around 6800 yards and up.

As stated above, she needs to get into AM tournaments like AJGA. Also, her high school coach needs to be pumping his connections if he has any.

Is this kid in Louisiana?

Is her coach not doing anything to help? He should have SOME contacts. If she's shooting in the low 70's regularly, smaller schools would 100% take her.

That's what I was shooting in high school and all the HBCCU's offered me scholarships On career day Southern and Grambling told me on the spot that I would easily get a scholarship there.

It's unfortunate she would have to do that but she could probably walk on most anywhere and potentially earn a scholarship.

I have a friend who's roommate in college right now was valedictorian at her high school and she didn't get a scholarship anywhere. That's hard to believe. It's like schools are cutting down on scholarships in general.

She should have no problem getting a scholarship. The talent pool for NCAAW Golf is not deep. Break 80 and you’re getting on somewhere.

Like the other posters said, college coaches don’t pay attention to HS Golf. My kid is 12 started playing 9 hole tournaments this year through our PGA section. Finished 3 on the points list playing against kids 12-16. Currently playing 18 hole US Kids local tour this fall. Next summer she will play our PGA section 11-15 year old, 18 hole tournaments. They have a few that are two day “college showcase” tournaments. Probably gonna put her in at least one, have to consult her instructor. Hopefully the summer before 9th grade she can get in some AJGA events.

There are so many girls golf scholarships that go unfilled each year I am sure she will get a spot somewhere. If your kids goal is to play college golf you have to come up with a road map and High School golf is not part of it, Cause most coaches are some history teacher getting an extra 3k to drive a van and sit in a cart by the first tee.

Yeah a there is a science to this - I know girls that score consistently 72-75 from 6000 yards and have zero interest- it’s because these girls are playing the wrong tournaments …. Got to have a schedule that will register Rolex points and up the JGS…

Need to have schools in mind and good idea to go to their summer camp - or these CFX camps…

I’ve seen parents waste so much money playing the wrong tournaments …. The D1 coaches know how kids can manipulate the Junior Golf Scoreboard - so even that isn’t the ticket if you want to go to a power 5 school…

High school golf is utterly meaningless- too girls play either because of friends or to stay sharp in the fall… any kid who leads with a high school golf resume is just asking to be ignored by any power 5 program of relevance

Ha... How things have changed then. Friend of mine played College golf ( for a school that has won national championships)...he played in the early 90s. We were out playing a round and I broke the news that my wife and I were expecting a baby girl. He goes "83...83....I had to shoot 66 to get a scholarship... Girls got one shooting 83" since then though I imagine it's gotten a lot tougher

It’s comical to me that people (and there are a lot out there - mostly parents) have zero idea just how good college golfers are. There’s a reason her daughter ain’t getting noticed. And it’s not because she isn’t playing in the big events. It’s because she probably is not good enough.

There was a college girl last week shoot a 60 in a collegiate event at 6800 yards.
