9 games left.. his time is coming

If his first season. He has plenty of time to make plays. LSU just has better options right now. He’s a gadget on this team not a tool.

Can't figure out if he's not the guy we hoped he'd be or if Denbrock is just not doing a good job finding ways to utilize him.

After that 1 punt drop it seems like we've removed him from ST completely.

I thought we'd see a lot more plays trying to get him the ball in space but the few screens with him have been horrible and he seems nonexistent in the short passing game otherwise.

I think there are very specific plans for him in the near future.

LOL. The Rant. He is only a RS freshman coming off injury. He would have busted the bubble screen for a 70 yd TD if Markaway makes his block. There are more experienced talented receivers in front of him at this time. Must be the same people that wanted the entire coaching staff fired and JD benched after Fl St game. Low football IQ here.

They've been on everything we've done with him (Defenses).

Bubble Screen or Slant

He's gonna get one soon (TD)

Its almost always us and our unreal expectations

And it has been three games. Lets be a little bit patient.

Competition is pretty strong. Can't start on reputation, he has to earn it.
If he is committed, he will get his opportunity. Just like Weeks and the freshman safety, Yaites.

Moscona slobbered on the kids knob all pre-season because he was the over-excited intern who got to watch LSU football practice, so I think people like him over-inflated what Anderson could do immediately.

I have been thinking about this guy for the last two weeks. I think much of the issue w the kid is that we were all told by those who saw him in camp that he was a guy we needed to try and get 4-6 touches a game (Denbrock said this). Also, the coaches raved about him essentially solving our return issues. Kelly actually said he looked and plays like a natural in the return game and “gives us an answer there”.

I like BK a lot but some of his decisions don’t make much sense to me.
IF you are gonna say and have other coaches and players say those things about AA, why have you completely mismanaged him in the return game?

I completely get sitting him in Orlando after punt muff.

But there is literally ZERO reason that you can justify NOT letting him gain confidence w fielding 90% of the punts and kicks vs Grambling and MSU after game was in hand.

Why? Did he all of a sudden lose all his skill after one muffed punt? Is 80 really the answer at PR? And I have nothing against Clayton as he has solid hands and has even had a nice little return.

This is on the coaches and media in my opinion.

Nick Saban let the kid walk. That should tell you everything you need to know.

This narrative is confusing to me.

If AA said he was leaving, is Nick supposed to chain him to a water heater so he can't leave? Or back up the BRINKS truck to change his mind?

Just because AA left doesn't mean Saban was happy about it. And even if he was impartial to the decision, I don't think that means he didn't think much of AA.

The guy has a roster FULL of unlimited potential. If a player doesn't wanna be there, Saban is in a position to say okay because he's got 10 other guys to try out.

This is on the coaches. We are horrendous at blocking screens, and that's all they do is throw him screens. It's a completely useless play. He's also not extremely fast. We try to run him on those little jet sweep pass things, but he's not a 4.4 guy. He's a quick twitch guy who can make you miss, if we can get him on some slants, hitches, and comebacks, he can be 1 on 1 with a defender and make him miss.

This is the next thing I hope they realize and fix. They seem to be pretty aware of a lot of things and fix them game by game. Hopefully this is one of them.

A good oc would scheme him the ball in favorable situations. Just look how Norvell calls a game, then look at denbrock

Baloney. Anderson is simply not one of our top three receivers, so he’s not on the field much. You don’t scheme to get the ball in the hands of your fourth best receiver. That would be stupid.

Man, good post and major props for not calling in a hot water heater. That’s the one kind of water it doesn’t heat.

There are 2 problems with him.

1. He was injured and is coming off a full year of not playing football AND is a R/S FRESHMAN so there's a bit of a learning experience here. Give him time.

2. Brian Kelly and the BR Media hyped this guy into the next Honey Badger return specialist. Saying we found our return guy etc. Fans just do what fans do and get hyped up by their hype men telling them how explosive this guy is. Next thing you know... people are expecting at least a touchdown a game and a field flip every time we catch a punt. Minimum! That's not really the way football works. But as fans, we just can't help ourselves.

We foolishly tried to run every single kickoff back the first game which made it even predictable. Most of the time it's to our advantage to just take the 25yd touchback. Then you can lull the kickoff team into thinking you won't return it and catch them halfassing it.

So overhyping by coaches/media/rant but mostly the guy just needs some time to get his feet under him.

I’m saying if AA wasn’t the problem then he wouldn’t have left. If you’re too good for the greatest coach of all time, then you are the problem.
