It's sad this world has become so broken you can't even feel safe watching a kids sporting event.
This time it's travel football.
fights and shots fired at youth football game in Richmond, TX

I’ve attended probably 150+ of my daughters soccer matches over the years and somehow never run into this problem
Of course the club soccer demographic seems a little different than the pictures in the news story above

On Harlem Road nonetheless

Deputies received a call about a disturbance at Harlem Road Park around 11:50 a.m. According to the Fort Bend Youth Football League's executive board, a number of parents got into several fights when one of them pulled out a gun and began firing shots
Too few Pro scouts cause this to happen.

Without clicking the link, I would assume overall that travel football is a slightly different demo than travel baseball.

Honestly this doesn't surprise me considering the way parents act.
And serious question. Is travel football a Texas thing? I know where I live there is a youth football team that plays other teams in the region and I think they might play 6 or y games a year. I guess it would be a travel team, but its referred to as "youth football". The teams they play or less than an hour away.

One of my buddy's who lives in Greatwood pulled into the parking lot for his son's football game right after that happened. No one was allowed to leave due to it being a crime scene. Crazy that that happened in Richmond, but I've been to a few of those FBYFL games, and they get a little hyped. That's the Stallion's league.

My cousin went to a private school in BTR like 90-93.
They played 8 man football and traveled all over the damn place playing other 8 man football schools.
They won 2 or 3 national titles for 8 man ball

The league emphasized that guns and fights are prohibited at all of their events.
Now that they emphasized it, it definitely won't happen again.

so they have a 7v7 league here that is flag that allows you to make your own teams. Its similar to travel setup but its league and play 1 game a week with playoffs at the end. the "traditional neighborhood" teams take this shite serious man.
to the point of coaches on same team fighting because they didnt like how the other was calling the other side of the ball, coaches fighting refs(1 time they were brother in laws
so they put sheriffs at every game...stop that shite with a hurry.
the league is a great league but it had gotten out of hand because of rivals with the neighborhoods. would be like in old school NOLA there being 1 league and every project having their own team. shite gets intense
we are just the lilly white kids trying to play against the best competition

It was never like this when the Maplewood braves and carlyss Colts were doing battle in the mid 80s. Now I did see some fisticuffs a time or two back then but never any gunplay.

OP…why did you waste my time?? Lead next time with location as Harlem Park and I’ll just keep scrolling.
