That's a good price for 6 months! I just paid ~ $1300 for 6 months with Allstate.

Same car new 3 years ago: $140 full coverage $0 comprehensive. Now $500 comprehensive deductible at $200.
This is irrelevant for comparison purposes unless you provide your limits and year and make of vehicle .

Y’all all mention y’all premium and say yo have full coverage but how much liability and uninsured motorist do you carry?
You have to get at least a half million liability so that they will write you 500 thousand U/M. That’s the one you will most likely use in Louisiana.

Just left state farm. Was with progressive and had 2 cars for $140 total. Switched to state farm to bundle home/auto.
Started at like $170 for 2 cars about 3 years ago. In July, it was going to be $300.
Switched to geico now pay $155 for 2 vehicles

So I downgraded to a Kia Sportage as a grocery getter while I'm home instead of splurging/wasting cash on another f150 - insurance went through the roof because people are still targeting Kias even though the newer models don't have the same ignition systems as the older Kias. Nearly $1k for six months with State Farm - I will definitely be doing more shopping around when it's time to renew.
Eta - I also carry lots of extras on full coverage because I've been hit by uninsured jackoffs twice now. This is one of the many reasons on the list I'm strongly considering moving when all of my oncology maintenance stuff is over.

Mine just renewed, and went up 21%. No accidents, etc. Shopped around, still the best price.

Im in the same boat. My rates with USAA went up 23%.
I also spoke to an agent thinking their was a mistake, but they assured me it was due to inflation/all rates going up across the board. I didnt heckle the call center employee because it isnt their fault, but I was chuckling when I heard that response.
Inflation would be like a 5% increase, not a damn sub 25% at one time.

5% is the average inflation rate.
Check inflation in auto sector (new cars, as well as car repairs/parts).

quote:Irrelevant. Your premium doesn’t just go to covering you. You’re put into a pot with other insureds. The pot you’re part of had a lot of claims.
Absolutely absurd , no new claims or wrecks/tickets.
How do people not understand this still?

Based on that chart seems like Progressive is the way to go

My insurance guy said this is happening with all insurance companies and is due to the increase in cost to repair cars.
And part of this are the fancy new LED turn signals and headlights, also there sensors all over the vehicle that may need to be replaced or recalibrated, that is really what is driving repair costs so high and it is becoming cheaper to total the car than repair it. Also, if an electric or hybrid car is involved, the cost to repair is even higher if the battery is somehow damaged.

Shockingly, all of the insurance agents I know make bank and barely work.

Mine is up for renewal in February but to be honest I am not going to even pay attention. It's going to go up an there's nothing I can do about it.

$225 USAA 1 vehicle. 100/300k limits. UM/UIM. No claims or tickets in a decade.
I was paying $175 only about a year and a half ago. Guess I’m now paying for uninsured folks’ physical therapy and back fusions.

My has steady gone up as my vehicles aged. They are paid off so I just dropped the collision coverage, saved me almost $300 a month.

Admiral, £565/year; £100 excess (deductible) - UK
Some of the few positives of living in England are how inexpensive cell phone plans, car insurance, etc are. Yes, gas is more expensive, but you don't drive nearly as far.
I'll be in for a shock when I move back, my cell phone bill for 100gb data and unlimited minutes/texts is £18/month.

Auto rates are up nationwide due to inflationary factors, parts and labor cost are through the roof. Louisiana has additional pressure due to the number of law suits filed for injury claims. Too many people think that a auto accident is a lotto ticket for free money. Claims are paid from your premiums paid, the more claims the higher the premiums. We need a Governor and legislature that are not controlled by the bar association, so we can have real tort reform and insurance reform in Louisiana.
