You don't think every other manufacturer would take advantage of this and raise prices with less options to shop?

Has this ever happened before? Sounds historical.

Looks like UAW is realizing they don’t have the support they thought they did. I understand now they are only targeting shutting down certain plants?

Could take a while too. Their demands are NUTS. This all stems from UPS giving their drivers so much.

Irrelevant. Your price is going to go up if you’re car shopping during a UAW worker strike.

Most US market Japanese cars are made in America, and most US market American cars are made in Mexico or Canada.

You came to the wrong conclusion. They only need to strike at a few key plants with a few key personnel to effectivity disrupt and shut down the entire manufacturing chain.

Ford should say "fine, you are fired", and go hire non union labor.
Follow Toyota's lead, like they should be doing.

Ah, pattern bargaining.

Bold move, given the context of industry differences.

The only reason this is happening is because the UAW has a new president and he wants the union members to believe he has balls.

With already sky-high prices and high loan rates (which will likely go higher before the year is out), auto sales are going to slump regardless. What the UAW is demanding is ridiculous on its own (48% pay increase, 32-hour work week and a return to pensions, on top of what they already have), but to do it right now is just asking for massive layoffs.
