Breaking the QB Impasse - This is the Offense CBK Wants

After game 1 the JD-GN discussion is wearisome, but it is necessary.
However, the focus needs to be not on JD-GN, but on CBK. He had options and this is the course he set. Plain and simple, we run the offense he wants with the QB he wants because that's his football philosophy. Will it win a natty? TBD.
The idea of having 4 or 5 five top-shelf WRs on a team at one time is new to him. He never had that at ND. (In the time he was at ND, ND had 10 WRs and RBs drafted, In that same time frame with ostensibly worse HCs, we had 20.) The idea of running an offense like ours in '19 is foreign to him. He wouldn't do it even if he had the personnel.
CBK 'inherited' a pretty-good setup at QB here - Brennan (I know he had to recruit him out of the portal), Nuss, and Walker. They had comparable skill-sets. But CBK chose to go in a different direction with Jayden. CBK is hired to win games. We'll see if works.
I do not fault JD. He wants to be a Tiger. He's tough. Runs the plays as called. He needs to make better decisions at times and better throws at times. I will cheer him on as long as he's a Tiger. I still think we can win every game with him at QB - if he brings his A-game.
But the focus needs to be on the kind of offense CBK wants more so than who's at QB.

The truth is that we will never have a 2019 style offense with Bk at the helm, even if we have the personnel for it (which we do right now). It’s not his style and never will be. He plays the possession and fundamentals game, and leans heavy on solid defenses. We need to recruit differently to win that way (see Georgia). It is what it is.

Good take. I like the thought in this. I would give fault to JD a little. He needs to make his reads and then run. The problem with him is he just panics when the pocket breaks and then just tucks and runs. I hope he figures it out, I want all the success for him and LSU. But, if he continues on this track he's going on, I think it will be time for a change.

I agree with your opinion.

Well, we have only had anything effective even resembling that in that one season so why do we expect it now?

Well said. JD catches warranted criticisms but at the end of the day, this falls on CBK

Nor has anybody else in the history of CFB. The point was it would never have seen the light of day had CBK been HC. He's not interested in attempting to approximate that even though the personnel is available. Not his style.

Who the fricks cares about imaginary scenarios from the past the day of a game. Enjoy the day man.

Here is where your point breaks down. Denbrock is calling the plays BK wants but JD is not executing them so he is not getting the offense he wants. How many WTF moment expressions on BK have we seen after a JD blown play?
Honestly, it was my observation that ND Brian Kelly would change QB in a heartbeat but obviously that has changed with LSU BK

I agree, with the caveat of JD might not execute the plays called right.
Lots of examples from last game. BK is paid to win games and even if he wants a QB like this, if teams have figured out how to stop him, he won’t keep doing it.

I agree with this. A lot of people are all over Denbrock about play calling. I agree the goal line and 4th down calls are super frustrating. But I do think that a lot of times thee pass plays aren't bad play calls and JD chooses to take the shorter routes rather than pushing downfield.

all on him for not rotating both or benching one

He's in Year 5 of College Football.
At this point, he's a finished product.
It's very doubtful if he improves for the better at this late time in his career.
All that improvement that we heard about in the Spring, never materialized against FSU, so at this point I think what you see is what you get with JD5.

It's all being done within the framework that CBK has chosen. No doubt he wants his QB to play better.
He had other options available when he arrived and could've gone in a different direction. He recruited Jayden. He hired Denbrock. Give'm full credit when it succeeds and full blame when it doesn't.

He's tough.
Not tough enough to stand in the pocket and deliver strikes even though he knows he’s going to get hit.

I’d be happy with WRs who focus on catching the ball.

Unfortunately I think you are right. Ultimately I think he is misguided in not leveraging LSU's greatest weapon (LA WRs) but I hope I'm wrong.

This team would be an excellent candidate for playing both
