As far as the Nest goes...mine did not work right until I had it hardwired to the unit...your AC guy should know how...I think it's the black wire????? Took 10 minutes...
Worked perfectly after that.

You bet. When your bottle runs dry tonight, feel free to use the technology you made Mr Boomer to drive ya up to the liquor store. DUI’s can get expensive for boomers on fixed incomes like yourself.
I don't drink.

If the bleeding gets any worse maybe the lady next door will loan you some of her heavy days pads.

Tried all that. He actually told me about the black wire. Ended up getting a Honeywell and now it’s an igloo in my home.

Thank god you don’t drink.. couldn’t imagine your great personality with a few beers in ya

The only reason I made the boomer comment in my OP because I know the first reply would have been “ok boomer”

I’m not knocking boomers at all. It was just to cover my arse from someone posting “ok boomer” after my post

Know what you mean about there's always something breaking, or needing to be reset, rebooted, etc to get it working again. I try very hard to fix everything myself because customer support is usually just as bad and incompetent as the product.

Listen, we aren't going to accomplish great things here with talk like that. Get the guy a bud light and let's see what happens.

I honestly think the Amish have it right. The only technology I need are batteries for power tools and air conditioning. I really would be down to move off grid and set up co-ops for goods. Just work to live everyday, and F paying taxes and worrying about the government.

I am sick of technology too but there are not too many ways to avoid it.

You are not Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, or Steve Wozniak. You did not invent shite and you can't take credit for their work.

Most baby boomers didn't invent or grow up with computers, and aren't as tech savvy compared to millennials and zoomers. It's just a simple fact.
We taught your stupid asses how to use the technology.

You see, you have to have the technolgy, we don't. You can't even read a map or write in cursive.

Even power tools are becoming shite. Lucky to have one last more than a year lol

Grills are also becoming unreliable with their battery powered BS starters

Kilmister - when Tennessee chokes again this season are you going to be the one saying “we lost” or “they lost?” Are they “Your Players” or “Their Players?”

Since you are the Jack of all trades with all of these technologies “You” invented, I would hope you would take the high road when that happens - because it will happen.

You are the type where when everything goes well it’s “We!!”

Whenever things don’t go well it’s “Them!!”

That’s called being a yes man. Yes men are betas that hide behind keyboards.

OP is right. I don't want my fridge to have a fricking TV on it. I don't need wifi in my car, nor do I want my car connecting to the Internet to God knows where. I don't need or want my toaster to give me a weather forecast.

All of this stuff is prone to break. But worse than that, it is a security issue. Every single "Internet of Things" device can be remotely hacked.

I said this when I bought my truck in 2000. I just want to be able to take the rubber mats out and hose it out like you could in the '60's before electronic BS when everything was mechanical. I still say I'm going to get one of those old trucks with the shift on the column before I check out of here.

Some days are just like that. I'm sick of QR codes at restaurants and bars and apps for every single thing. You can't park many places these days without an app.

It just seems that everything with technology just sucks. Of course it’s great when it works but it’s crazy how every single day something stupid happens.

Everything from routers to wi-fi to appliances to cars to Nest thermostats.

Every single day there is an issue with something that has to do with technology.
Almost every problem boils down to the fact that you wanted the new hotness and you wanted it as cheap as possible.

You can find simple, reliable stuff if you look, but you will have to wade through the sea of cheap garbage tech because that's what the market demands most apparently.

My wife got a small Blackstone, I don't know from where, but it was new. I've only been able to light it by lighter. The automatic lighter in it has yet to work for me.
