re: Why do people equate criticizing JD with “Blaming him entirely” for the loss?

The offense was held scoreless for the first 29 minutes of that same half.
Context matters. Lacy had multiple drive killing drops. BTJ had a killer drop as well. That forced you to give the ball back to FSU, who you couldn't stop at all, and the game snowballed on you.
Its a close game.
Lacy drops a 3rd down conversion that maybe scores if he catches it.
You punt and don't get a stop
They go down and score.
You throw a deep ball to BTJ and he drops it.
You have to punt it back and they score again
You're in scramble mode playing catch up and their pass rushers get after you.
You punt it back and they score again.
Ballgame.

See what
A backhanded dismissal of JD as a QB. This is why people feel the need to jump to his defense. In terms of LSU QBs historically, his numbers speak for themselves.
I think he is a little better than that but he doesn't appear to be an elite QB. He may be top 25% and he could be better but I don't think he has the time to get there at this point.

Ultimately it is on Kelly. JD is not a QB. JD is an athlete that plays QB. Kelly is stubborn.

But the fact is now he is a just a slightly above average D1 quarterback

Context does matter.
The defense gave up 24 points through 3 quarters and then folded in the 4th when they were gassed and the offense wasn’t producing at all.

JD would be a great triple option qb
i agree with this. if we are stuck on him as qb, then we need to run the triple option or the wishbone. i think he would be better runnng the wishbone. this would be great for kelly. He could use 2 backs and 2 tight ends in the bone. for his comeback offense he could substitute a wr for the te, or just to shake things up!

That may be true, but if you don't figure things out defensively, it won't matter who the QB is. Look at the UGA game last season. Nuss was slingin it and it didn't ultimately matter because Georgia scored at will on your defense.
I just think people expected a better version of JD and what we got looked exactly same as last year for the most part.
I'll give you one example. Everytime the pocket collapsed he was gonna run it and everyone knew he was gonna run and not look downfield.
How many times did Travis look downfield to throw after he escaped the pocket. Prolly 10 or 11 i would say.

JD is an amazing athlete and a playmaker. He will win games other QB will lose.
But as a passing QB, he is limited. That limits the offensive playbook. It hampered the run game on Sunday. It makes it easier for the opposing D to scheme against us.

And as I laid out for you, the offensive woes aren't neccesarily on the QB there. You get down to the 2 yd line and can't punch it in with 6 plays. You had multiple drive killer 3rd down drops on fairly easy catches.

I saw multiple 3rd down plays that you had to have in the 2nd half where Daniels put the ball in the receivers hands from the pocket and they dropped them. Doesn't matter who the QB is if the receiver drops the ball.

Ad Kelly was saying on the sidelines to JD i think.
He misread the defense on two of those plays.

Not “punching it in” involves the QB. He’s on offense and me made bad reads on at least two of those plays.
The drops were bad, and people acknowledge that. They aren’t the only reason the offense stalled though. The offense stalled because FSU took away the underneath routes AND put a spy on Daniels. Once that was gone he produced 0 points for 29 minutes because he doesn’t push the ball down the field. The one time he did he under threw a wide open receiver, but you just put the blame on the receiver.
I will simply reiterate what I said before. 1 total TD from your QB is never “good enough to win”.

There is a different fluidity and movement when Nuss is at the helm. The offense is crisp. Maybe a few more first downs would equal more sustained drives and time of possession. Giving the ball back to fsu on multiple 3 & outs certainly wasn’t gonna help.

LSU’s secondary was expected to be a weak point this year, and the first game proved it. There is no magical fix for that now, it is what it is. Teams with good passing games will score a lot of points on LSU this year. Therefore LSU will have to win some games by getting in shootouts and matching other team’s explosiveness in the passing game. That’s the reality of this team this year.
Does JD or Nuss give you the best chance to win those type of high scoring shootout type games? That is the question.

With JD as your QB, I think you have to put your “hands” team in at WR. Nothing else matters, not YAC, nothing, just put in the guys who are the best at catching the ball.

Because great efforts have been made to cultivate a culture wherein everyone is afraid to criticize certain people due to an intense fear of social retribution.
The way people wont let you discuss how JD cant throw is almost identical to the way you cant discuss how Lamar Jackson cant throw.

I mean the WR dropped balls no doubt.
I was just telling you how people perceive JD and it revealed that way Sunday night.

As I said, receivers need to catch the ball. The ball was delivered multiple times on 3rd downs past the sticks and they were dropped.

QB scramble isn't an offense. It works at first, but once teams start scheming for it, it's over.
After the Alabama game, teams ran man on outside and zoned LBs close to LOS (UGA / Ark / AM / FSU) did this. The blue print is out.

Kyren lacy sure seemed open on that critical 3rd down that he dropped that he likely scores on. BTJ was open deep and dropped his as well. Everytime you tried to run between the tackles you were stuffed and your receivers dropped big third downs when you needed them to come up big.
