Why did Rispone lose in 2019?

I didn’t really pay attention much at the time. Was he a rino or just lacked charisma? It amazes me republicans lose statewide in such a red state like louisiana.

I don’t think it was this. He looked like a guy who had no idea what he was doing or, much less, why he was running for governor. And the democrats in the state did a good job of fomenting division between republicans in the southern part of the state and northern part.
Still would have been better than being stuck with Sloth for the past 4 years.

When half of your campaign about the governor of Louisiana is about a border wall in another state it's not hard to see why you're going to lose. He tried to ride Trump's coattails and lost.

He was behind in the polls, went after Abraham with a bunch of lies so naturally his supporters did not vote for Rispone.

Louisiana is not a conservative state, its a big government red state. They like guns and most traditional values. Other than that it's very pro-government programs.

Because the LAGOP is completely and laughably inept. They basically let 2 republican candidates beat each other up, wouldn’t make any calls to help resolve anything and then Rispone overplayed his hand, attacking Abraham to try and get some traction. It worked and he became the nominee - but the Bible Belt, North Louisiana fricknuts were too sad to show up and vote. So Turtlehead walked in there and here we are.
Just in case you missed it, this time around the LAGOP ran out and endorsed Landry before the race even started, once again proving how worthless they are. So now you don’t even know who the best candidate could be.
Louisiana deserves everything we get. We’re too stupid to do anything else.
