We were sunshine pumping BK and the alignment. We were fools
I've seen lots of their standard "We'll be Fine" BS, "Relax" BS and "Miserable" BS.
The Tigers get embarrassed on National TV in Prime Time and these "Enemies of the State" don't give a shite; they're just obsessed with "Towing the Company Line" and it's thoroughly nauseating
BTW, the "JD5 Experiment" should be officially over now.
Time to move on with GN, who may throw some picks, but will move the ball through the air and will get it into the hands of our WR's and TE's.
If Miles & Cameron stubbornly refuse to make the change, there will be big problems right around the bend for this program!

As an LSU fan I will always try to look for a reason to be optimistic every Saturday no matter who we play. I can’t imagine being an insufferable little bitch and going through a season saying we suck and are going to lose each week…but hey some people love being miserable

Given the restrictions in place, both self inflicted and circumstantial, it’s not reasonable to expect any coach to win National Titles at Notre Dame except for maybe Saban. Maybe.
But when can this stop being used as an excuse? O still recruited and BK has brought in two top portal classes so there is talent there…yet ND BK was on full display last night. That is what is so concerning to me. BK left ND because of this excuse and yet last night all I saw was ND shite. A complete arse whooping in a majorly hyped game.

Because the ND AD is as big an egotistical jackass as BK. BK was his handpicked coach. He wasn’t fired after killing a kid. He wasn’t fired after going 4-8. He wasn’t fired after having to vacate wins in 2012-13. In fact the only reason he is even recognized as ND’s winningest coach is because ND continued to recognize the vacated wins. The only way BK was leaving South Bend was in the manner he did. Someone else had to take him off ND’s hands.

Well. Y'all said you wanted players who were aligned and didn't want NIL money. So this is the product you get with those type of players. Why cry now when it's what you guys wanted during the offseason?

I think they secretly wish we would lose so they can justify their continued miserable existence

Not an elite recruiter, mishandles qb situations, teams not prepared in big games, not enough emphasis on special teams.
I didn’t watch a lot of ND football games so overall special teams aspect is hard to speak to; but the big games part and qb part were obvious.
As far as recruiting ND recruits itself for most part. Staff has to win some battles against other top schools and pick some diamonds in the rough. I did not see him improve recruiting more than it would have done with any coach.
He pushed Denbrooke aside as coordinator after one year as coordinator at ND with “promotion” to AHC, and when Denbrooke’s replacement left he really wasn’t even considered again for OC position which is why he took OC position at Cincinnati. Hiring him at LSU was a sign. He is not horrible overall, but he is just running Kelly’s offense and doing OC admin work during the week. Kelly doesn’t want a coach better than him running the offense, and he doesn’t want to learn a new offense to be hands on like he wants to be with the offense. In that regard he is like Les.
Kelly also seemed to have a chip on shoulder at ND which seems to have disappeared with the $100 million guaranteed contract. He seems way too comfortable just cashing in check now.

I'm getting Les Miles vibes from what BK is putting out there. We need to field the QB who makes those around him better. Unfortunately, that excludes JD
Nussmeier fits the mold we're looking for. Being able to read a defense and get the ball out of his hands quickly ought to be a deciding factor to transition from what we have with JD because we know exactly what we get with him and we have already peaked with his play. I'm tired of the inconsistency and unknowns we get with him under center. Not only that, but defenses know how to attack him and make him one dimensional.

Meh. ND fans weren’t so vocal about those things when he was there. I wouldn’t put too much stock into what they’re saying now.

That's how you get stuck with a Miles for so long

Yup. everything ND fans said turned out to be true. I'm off the BK train and yes, I'm a BK hater now so frick the alignment.

fell on deaf ears
spending 100 mil on a coach who hasn’t got the accolades to warrant such a big pay raise
to go to the strongest conference where majority of the teams spend millions on recruiting and their coaching staff spelled trouble from the start

Bro, every fan base will bitch about losses. I’ve seen Bama fans shite on Saban who is tGOAT. I’m saying these talking points were not pushed by their fan base when he was there. Regardless, I don’t give a shite about ND fans.

I'm getting serious Les Miles vibes about this team's ability, or lack thereof, under BK and Denbrock. Nussmeier at the very least can go through his reads on defense and has the ability to get the ball out of his hands quickly. Our playbook opens up immensely when we have a QB who can go though his reads and is able to pull the trigger without delay. I pray Denbrock will be instrumental in a decision to pull the plug on JD. We need to see what Nuss gives us!

As an ND grad who has many LSU friends, I have had numerous discussions about BK, and warned my friends when he was hired not to be overly optimistic. Why? While Brian Kelly is a great program builder who understands the landscape of college football and knows what it takes to win, he is not always the best at execution and a lot of his game-day coaching is questionable at best. Here are a few observations from the commentary in this thread as well as from last night's games.
1. For those worried about recruiting, relax. Yes, Kelly is a bit of lazy recruiter, but he is competent enough to select assistants who are tireless recruiters. You will get talent.
2. What BK does with that talent that is recruited is a bigger question. While at ND, BK and his staff had difficulty developing the talent that they recruited at most positions other than OL, and particularly, at QB. Some would say that almost all QBs at ND regressed...I think otherwise. I don't think the coaching staff challenged them to run new stuff, so that there was a lot of film on ND's playbook for each QB, allowing opposing defenses to be better prepared with each game.
3. Halftime and in-game adjustments are a problem, halftime because there typically are not significant adjustments and in-game because the staff reacts too slowly. Against most great coaches, BK will lose the halftime adjustment battle. I'm not saying that Norvell is a great coach, but he and his staff schooled the BK staff last night. If it was not obvious to you, you probably should be watching Netflix instead of football.
4. Special teams are not special. From sources inside the ND program, there were reports that special teams was given little to no practice time during both the pre-season the season.
5. BK does not seem to understand momentum, and his stubbornness often works against him in critical game decisions. Sometimes it's better to take the points. That said, I agreed with the decision to go for it both times last night, but the play calls were less than ideal. If you're gonna go for it, you should have some idea of how to get it.
A lot of ND fans were jaded by Kelly's departure. He did really great things for our program, but he was not beloved by many while he was there. As I have said to my LSU friends, you may get lucky and have a great season, but for the most part, you should expect his teams to lay a few eggs. Unfortunately, last night was an egg. Hopefully, that's the last one of the season.

It’s hard to recruit at ND. It’s not the job it was in the 70s and 80s. Brian Kelly did a great job at ND.
