Have you ever been vaccinated against rabies?

Yesterday, I was opening a patio umbrella when a bat fell out and landed on the back of my hand. He either bit or scratched me on the ring finger. Regardless, it broke the skin and the local health department recommended I get the vaccine and immune globulin asap.
The vaccine was just a small shot in the arm, but the globulin was a son of a bitch. They squirted it all around the wound with a giant frick-you needle, then spread the rest of it around my body with seven other shots of the same sized needle. I get several more vaccine shots in the coming days.
I know it's better than getting rabies, but I give the whole rabbies shot process a 0/10. Do not recommend. I've also heard I'm in for a nice invoice.
Any of yall ever had it? I'm the only one I've known get it, but I'm sure it has to be more common than I think it is. The ER intake nurse looked at me funny when I got there and was like, "pardon me? A what bit you?"
Csb.

You mean did I get a jab?

I just didn’t date whores.

Congrats on the pending insatiable thirst for human blood.

I’ve never had it but my brother had to get it when we were younger when he was bit by a neighbor’s dog who didn't gave their shots.
The shots are terrible.
Michael Scott appreciates your awareness though.

Yeah. Rabies vax sucks.

I recall someone saying you have to get the shots in your stomach and it sucked. That could have been a deterrent or something.

I was going to make a joke about what happens if you get, but after a quick google search I'm strongly encouraging you to finish the treatment.
Ts&Ps. Don't be roaming the streets of Gotham neither.

I was told the same thing but my shots weren’t in the stomach.

I haven’t, but a close friend of mine did a few years ago. fricking awful, and fricking expensive

Don’t go back. You got the hyper immune globulins. Unless some test comes back positive, you’re good

Yeah, I got them in both arms, the hips, my hand, and my thighs. The doctor said the stomach thing hasn't ever been used in her career.

It sucked but it was better than I expected because I thought they were all going in my stomach. Only upside

I’ve had 3 of the shots.
Was in an oilfield emergency response position that required potential travel to extremely remote areas. The shots were basically a contingency plan that would keep the illness at bay for a short until I could get to better medical care in the case I was bitten.
The shots suck, but it sure beats a nearly 100% fatal disease when symptoms present. There are a few videos of late stage rabies victims- very creepy.

That was my very first question. They quickly put me at ease about the stomach thing. Then they pulled out the horse needle and said "but this has to go in your finger."
Posted on 9/3/23 at 2:45 pm to BottomlandBrew
Don’t do it. They gonna slip you the jab cause sales been declining.

Sounds shitty but rabies is basically fatal should you contract it.
And it's a horrible death along the way.
Your choice but I'd pick the shots.
