Lack of administrative support is definitely part of it.
Tech used to benefit immensely from just being able to recruit the I20 corridor and louisiana and find some gems that slipped through the cracks. Now with transfer portal and NIL any of said gems are jumping ship for a pay day as soon as they make a name for themselves. Techs best WR went to Mississippi state and our star LB is now at Tulane. I just don’t see any way tech can become competitive in todays CFB landscape unless the Davidsons or some big booster just starts dumping money at the program

This is a prime example of a program getting absolutely gutted due to NIL pouring onto the scene. The NCAA abandoned small schools like Tech in the name of money and it is disgusting.
The NCAA didn't implement NIL. Players sued and won in court. The NCAA isn't playing conference roulette; that's the individual schools.

He’s the reason Mulkey went to Baylor instead of coming back to Tech.
I've been a fan of Mulkey since her playing days but her claim of disrespect in the matter of Barmore's return rings pretty hollow. It was a convenient excuse to take the money.

This is embarrassing. There are a lot of things that have caused our program to go downhill fast but I will have to come back on here on go over them one by one. My mind isn’t well right now.

Tre Harris had three touchdowns in about five minutes for Ole Miss.
This is a completely different team with him opposite Smoke Harris.
Defense has played pretty well.
As long as your best players get poached every offseason, you’ll never be good.

Gone are the days of small schools being able to compete and knock off big schools every once in a while. Yes, SMU poured a ton of money into the program (compared to tech) and it shows.
This is the sad truth unfortunately. When they get a stud player that develops, more than likely another program will throw more money at them and they're likely gone. It's fricked up

Tre Harris set a school record for TD’s in a game at Ole Miss in his first game.
They tampered, lured our best player away with money and we are trying to get some young guys seasoned quickly to fill the void. Inevitably if those guys step up, they’ll be poached too.
SMU pays their players a minimum of $36,000 per year.
We are a rural school with a borderline FCS budget who fought above their weight class for years. Those days are over. Louisiana Tech’s best days are certainly behind them.

Tulane seems to be doing just fine

This was a program that could go toe to toe with most teams outside the top 15

Private school in a large metro area with a massive endowment
Not quite the same as Louisiana Tech and Arkansas State

So maybe the NIL wasn't the correct verbiage, I don't care. Money has completely fricked everything. Now we get to see Cal join the Atlantic Coast Conference. How does that make any sense? Schools can now pay everyone $30k a year, where does that end?
Being a fan of a power 5, you wont get it and say tuff shite, whatever. I used to enjoy college football but now I nearly find it a waste of time. It took 40 years, but ESPN destroyed college football for the small/poorer schools.
That Penn St still has a football program astounds me. If Ball State was in that situation....
