I don’t disagree with the premise of their suit but how is the school district the injured party here?
The way I’ve seen it argued elsewhere is that the social media has caused a mental health crisis among youth that have made it difficult to continue to teach kids. They cited not just the rise in depression and anxiety but social media’s role in cyber bullying which can cause direct classroom safety issues.

Fun fact that lawyer representing the school district owns the wedding cake house on St. Charles in New Orleans

This is kind of like a a medical clinic suing gun manufacturers because their product makes it hard for doctors to keep people healthy.

They need to sit back and shut up about that or evidence may be presented proving their decision to close schools during Covid had a much more detrimental effect on this than social media.

I’m not in favor of suing companies unless their is some type of fraud/negligence etc. but young people are being sucked into their phones causing some serious issues.. ultimately the responsibility falls in the the kid and parents as you simply can’t prevent them from using the apps.

Where are the parents to stop their kids from going on social media
Exactly! Also unbelievable the number of parents that basically use electronic devices as “babysitters”. Too busy or preoccupied or just lazy to interact with their children. Obscene the number of 6 year olds I see with “their own” smart phone or tablet or laptop and they have basically unfettered access to any content they can find on-line.

Any parent that lets their kid run rampant on social media should be considered an abuser

Many governments and entities acted on the supposed gambling addiction associated with video games and their “lottery” systems, but the socially and mentally destructive nature of social media has largely been ignored.
Do not let your children get on social media of any kind, especially the likes of TikTok and YouTube Shorts.
They are specifically designed to create addictions in children.

Parents allowing kids to use these apps is the crisis.
Nannyism doesn't help this at all.

Suit will be dismissed for lack of standing.
