Him and Winston are equally shitty. Don’t argue
Winston is the better backup right now, so this is incorrect.

Yeah... he'll have a couple years to learn from Carr I'm willing to wait & watch him develop
How many QBs did we have to wait and learn under Sean and Brees?
You trust this staff drafting QBs to finally find the right one? And further, you trust this offensive coaching staff to do that development?

Considering the kid had about 0.8 sec to throw, wtf you expect
So it’s cool for him to struggle with the backups but if Winston did it, he sucks?

He was pressured on pretty much every play it felt like. Still looks better than JW imo

We will look back and regret not picking up DTR instead

Probably but Winston won’t improve. The other guy might.

What is amazing to me is how you don't understand how keeping 3 qbs on the roster hurts the team... If Haener is truely shitty then he is an easy cut.. No big deal..but that isn't the case. So now we have to keep him and bum arse Winston who is going nowhere at the expense of a guy who could make a difference on this team...like a Shaq Davis, kirklin or krull.

He might. He might also not improve. He might also get worse.
Interesting.

Ehhh. Almost half the league had 3 QBs on their rosters last year. You’re acting like this is some anomaly.
Saints have the luxury of having taysom as their de facto 3rd QB also.
The new QB rule will lead to many other teams keeping 3 QBs too.

If Haener was in his third year and playing like he has, Winston would be the #2 and Haener would be gone. They “have” to keep him because they drafted him. So Haener is the one taking up your precious 53rd roster spot.

Granted he is short, but I gave up long ago (Grayson, Lossman and Ian Book) looking for the next Drew Brees.

Guys he only needs 10 years experience AND Sean Payton, then he'll be a good QB I promise.

Thank goodness some of you aren’t in charge of personnel. Dumping Winston in favor of Haener? Y’all are insane.

Haener's progression and where he's at currently is very good for a rookie who was not drafted in the 1st round with the expectation to be or to compete to be a week 1 starter. He's showed some poise, showed some blitz and coverage recognition at times, but other times he forced balls into coverage with several late throws he tried force in that you just cannot do in the NFL even against preseason backups. At this point to me he is still clearly QB3, but he has in now way hit his ceiling.

He’s a rookie. Of course he’s gonna force throws in clutch time. He will get better

A: we don't have to dump either of them right now.
B: I'd much rather actually try to develop a QB we draft for once. Winston has spent 9 years showing us exactly who he is.

A rookie qb not improving and a 30+ qb improving. Could it happen, I guess. I also could win the lottery. Probably about the same chances.

Winston is going to be the bridge for this year only so Jake can improve and then next year we'll see if he's taken the steps to be backup worthy.
Jameis as your backup will at minimum go .500 on this team, which is all a backup should be asked to do. That's why they aren't starters.
