By not having congressional term limits.

All of our problems would be fixed in two years. Maybe less. 99% of them at least.

They should have predicted that humans are too fricking power-hungry and greedy to actually “serve” their country.


It’s devolved into a uniparty that’s main goal is CONTROL and STAYING in control.

At this point it would take an act of congress (lol) or a complete overthrow

I am big fan of term limits…but I think you are overselling them.

They will most certainly not fix all our problems in two years.

But it would produce more new ideas and less entrenchment.

They did not "mess" up.

A Constitution of the States can be called to help take back from the Senate and House certain powers they have absconded while also providing opportunity to certainly limit any elected official to only 2 terms!!

Have you noticed worldwide the countries with entrenched leaders all seem to be on the same page? It is a huge tell.

Not really. The Constitution guarantees a republican form of government. How could they ever envision a United States with enough enemies from within to use that republican form of government to destroy the republic?

We've allowed the freedoms guaranteed by those brilliant, visionary men via the Constitution to be used against us and bastardized by greed, and corruption in the name of tolerance.

Our Founding Fathers are the last people who should be blamed for allowing the federal government to become the parasitic behemoth it has become.

I think we will get it closer to correct after the collapse. Tolerance of parasites only leads to the destruction of the host. It doesn't matter if that host is a republic, the Constitution, the legislature, the people, capitalism, or liberty.

Maybe so but keep in mind that back then it was a unpaid position and the incentive of wide spread corruption wasn’t there

Not true. They would find ways around it - run the spouse of the term limited office holder, for example. Or the politician would build an organization to elect a succession of puppets, while the real power was with him.

There simply is no process cure for a soft, jaded electorate. Only hardship can cure this.

I disagree. The Founders got it right by ensuring that the Senate was chosen by state legislatures to represent the interests of the states. Thus, the lobbying groups and other special interest groups who underwrite the bulk of senate campaigns had much less power and sway over politics. Plus, this greatly limited the power of the Federal government and their shoving BS laws down to the states. If this were still in place, we wouldn’t need term limits at all.

The 17th Amendment is what screwed all that up and we would all do well to repeal it.

They had no idea that it would evolve to this. Back then people had businesses and/or farms to tend to. If they saw today they would probably drop dead in their tracks.

It would not fix all problems unless you fix lobbying too. However, it would be a move in the right direction.
