I was 16 before my family got a car with A/C.We made it.
House didn’t have A/C either until I was 18 after I went in Navy.

that wont work in Houston 104 50% humidiry 116 heat index. That would work in sub 80 sub 85 temps

Its likely a leak in the condenser. Just had that problem. Drove around for 3 weeks including moving 100% myself from my 2nd floor apartment to another 2nd floor apartment in 160 degree heat index in my truck.
I have a temp gauge I put in my truck. It was 130 degrees in truck with 30% humidity which results in 160 degree heat index. This was on a 100 degree day in Houston. My heat index in the car was 60 degrees higher than outside.
I got on yelp and got quotes and cheapest one was $400 post tax to supply and replace the condenser. Works fine now.

Climate freaks insist you would be dead right now. So I know this is not true because the climate freaks have never been wrong. All of their predictions come true.

After it’s run for a couple minutes, try turning the heat up to the maximum and then turn it down fairly slowly to the lowest setting. It could be that the blend door actuator is not functioning properly

“Engineers” are putting some parts that were real easy to work on in weird places that require too much disassembly to justify the replacement.
For example spark plugs, one row could be real easy to get to while the other row might require you to disassemble half the engine to get to the plugs.
Then so are wearable parts swaps that are getting needlessly complicated. I was watching a video on swapping the brake pads on an newer F150, you needed to break out the computer to bleed the brakes after you changed the pads. In another video, manufacturers started using plastic oil pans in some trucks. Another video even showed a stupid location for an oil filter which was above a suspension bar meaning oil would leak every where each time you changed it.
Mercedes takes the oil change to a new level with no plug. You just need a suction line to get all the old oil out, the filter is on top so that changing looks easy, and then you pump in new oil.

Check and see if you're getting power to the compressor, if so, the relay is sending voltage to the compressor. If no power to the compressor, check for power to the relay, if so, it's probably the relay and most times if you remove a bad relay, you can smell that a contact is burnt.

My wife’s went out a few weeks ago. $2300 for evaporator coil and a couple other things. We ended up getting it for $1500 because they were supposed to have it for a couple days and ended up having it for a week and a half, so they discounted it for me.

Can of Freon and a AC Charge Hose with Gauge will cost you $25. Worth a a shot. Hit up youtube for the how to.

I have an '07 Accord that lost A/C about 2 years ago.
I looked into all of the self helps at the time and none were good. The a/c repair estimate was about $1300 at the time.
I will check the fuses later today. That was one check that I didn't run.
When the wife's car gets paid off, I will probably get another quote and bite the bullet.

You’ll need a working/new relay. It’s not exactly the same as inspecting a fuse. You can’t tell if it’s a bad relay by looking at it.
I used a “Duralast Relay 20742” but I would check your year accord for exact fit.

My '08 Civic AC went out three times.
The 20/21 have an issue with putting the wrong freon in that's incompatible with gaskets in the compressor. It's a TSB now so when it goes out it's at least repaired free.

Same issue for me years ago in 08 Accord in hot weather.
Relay is located in fuse box under hood (near battery) and relay is not clearly identified in owners manual. When you find relay in fuse box, mark the top of the new relay so its easy to find next time.

The A/C in my Mazda worked fine going to work, coming home it didn't work. Turns out it was a bad fill valve. It's basically like the fill valve on a tire. Replaced it, refilled and GTG ever since.
