The Gunman was equipped with handmade explosives, 1,800 rounds of ammunition, and multiple firearms. He was on his way to downtown Fargo to commit a mass casualty event.

ND Attorney General Drew Wrigley said “In the wake of Mohamad Barakat’s murderous, unprovoked attack, Officer Zach Robinson’s use of deadly force was reasonable, it was necessary, it was justified, and in all ways, it was lawful,”

Apparently this happened last month. I don't remember hearing about it. My guess is that because his name is Mohamad Barakat, the media quickly buried it.

Background on the shooter

Originally from Syria, Barakat was granted political asylum and arrived in the U.S. in 2012, Wrigley said at a news conference on Friday, July 21.

Wrigley said Barakat's web browser history showed searches for information on mass shooting events and how to shoot and injure people in specific ways.

The last website Barakat visited before the shooting was a news article with the headline "Thousands enjoy first day of Downtown Fargo Street Fair," the attorney general said.

On July 14, Barakat ambushed police officers as they dealt with a routine car crash near 25th Street and Ninth Avenue South.

The ensuing gunfight lasted roughly two minutes, killing Officer Jake Wallin and seriously injuring officers Tyler Hawes and Andrew Dotas. Barakat also wounded Karlee Koswick, a Boston-area woman who recently moved to Fargo. Officer Zachary Robinson ended the gunfight by shooting and killing Barakat.

In the car that Barakat drove to the ambush scene, investigators found three long rifles, 1,800 rounds of .223 caliber ammunition, a homemade grenade, a can of gasoline, explosives and other firearms, Wrigley said.

The explosives in Barakat's car were filled with large amounts of Tannerite, an explosive compound made from ammonium nitrate and aluminum powder. If Barakat had shot an explosive, it could have caused significant destruction, Wrigley said.

Explosives can create much more casualties and chaos than an active shooter situation

These psychos choosing guns and engaging in shoot outs prevents much worse situations

Barakat’s previous search history over the last five years included information about “mass shooting events,” “explosive ammo” and “incendiary rounds,” the outlet noted.

The FBI was previously alerted about Barakat in 2021 after there were concerns about his mental state and his access to a “significant number of firearms,” according The AP. Barakat reportedly denied any intentions of wrong doing, and authorities said there was no evidence to support illegal activities or any immediate threats and thus, no further action was taken.

Barakat is from Syria and came to the U.S. on an asylum request in 2012 before gaining citizenship in 2019, per The AP.

Jesus, in the middle of the day on a busy road too. That’s scary shite. Good on the officer in the video, he put some good shots on that dude.

Was he wearing body armor? Because it looked like he took about 15-20 shots and was still moving around and brandishing a gun. Even after what appeared to be a fricking headshot. Wtf.

That cop should be put on a pedestal. He should never have to justify his actions putting down that POS. You could tell he was scared to death and still ran towards the action.

Lolz. Literally predicted by millions of Americans back when we were giving them asylum. And all of those predicting it were called paranoid, racist and bigoted extremists. The only logical explanation is that bigoted extremists are clearly the most intelligent people in this country.
