This bullshite resurfaces every 3 months. No one is asking for this. This boondoggle HAS to be someone's money making pet project as many times as it comes up.

I love the idea of a high speed rail system connecting the southeast, but not sure it will ever happen.

It sure as shite isn’t going to happen for 20 million dollars

This comes up about every 12-18 months.

It’s not happening

It would be great if this proposal actually was high speed but it's going to take longer than driving

In fact, the estimate was for $80-100 million to retrofit or rebuild the Bonnet Carre portion of the line.

To be fair, that CN (ex-IC) bridge is in much need of rebuilding. Trains have to be rerouted every time it rains more than a few drops because the damn tracks wash out.

Traveling over that bridge on the City of New Orleans to/from Memphis is nerve-wracking.

They'll probably tint the windows on the train like CATS busses by year two so we don't see there's 6 people on it

I was literally sitting here wondering how many people take trains these days? This 2023 NOT 1823.

Let's build a train from the #1 place people are leaving to the #2 place!

Do you think Satan has commuter trains to help getting around in Hell?

Will be a three hour one way trip, and it will have to allow freight trains to go first. This ain’t going to work.

If you Google the Southern Rail Commission, you'll see who the train obsessed people are who are behind this.

I just don't think the demand is there. People might use it for Jazz Fest or a LSU football game but what's it going to look like on the 90% of days where there's nothing big going on?

AS noted, just look at which pols are backing this & then ask why. One thing for sure, the car jackers will be waiting in the shadows for a new source of easy money.

This proves what I’ve been saying, the state has way more money than it needs.

No doubt the parishes hit by Kattina/Rita need help, but a train does little or nothing to help.
