The sunbelt is stable and cohesive. But the east could do it on their own and get the same benefits, without having to travel to La and Texas. And if the AAC blows up with teams moving to wherever, some group of schools will homestead it to keep the autobid. Otherwise, that's one more bid going to the P5, and lord knows we don't want 7-14 West Virginia deprived of its 7-seed.

While that is true. The demographics of the SBC and the AAC are not aligned. The SBC is a mirror image of the SEC. Smaller rural schools with a core of fans and tradition.

The AAC is large metro universities that are market driven.

Sure…it doesn’t mean every program has tradition. Neither does the SEC programs.

5 programs with National Titles in FCS. JMU, GaSo, App, ULM, and Marshall. 1 program with a D2 National Title in Troy.

Top 25 Rankings Troy, App, Marshall, USM, Coastal, stAte, JMU and Louisiana.

Small market teams with passionate fan bases. So I’m sure LaTech fans will turn their noses up again at the SBC, that always works out so well for them.

But the fact remains, the SBC is rapidly improving. It’s in the best footprint for college football. Once all the dust settles the Sun Belt will be the clear winner amongst the G5 conferences. It already is, some fans are just to biased to see it.

Look, I personally love what the Sun Belt has become. My opinion on Tech’s future has changed drastically with the portal and NIL. I fully supported us trying to keep up with the Jones’ and we were pretty damn good at it too. Unfortunately things out of our control (population and media market) kept us from moving up with athletic programs we shared a conference with for years. I’ll be the first to admit that door has been permanently nailed shut for Louisiana Tech and we may be and likely will be in C-USA forever.

At the same time you are vastly overestimating how many people care about the Sun Belt. College football fans are not watching Sun Belt schools on a Saturday. The Sun Belt might be the best G5 but in this era it won’t make a difference in TV metrics, TV contracts or on-field performance. If you have a brand recognition, are good and play on a weeknight, people will watch. Otherwise they aren’t tuning in.

I’m not claiming that the SBC even has a seat at the table. Because the fact that there are just 4 leagues that do.

FIFY. There is no reason for LSU to ever play a game at Yulman.

Yulman can upgrade its capacity.

No reason to do that unless filling it up becomes a regular thing.

Demolishing Fogleman and building a legit Division 1 Basketball arena should be a higher priority IMO

Why is Tulane the one in state school that feels entitled to have LSU come to their place?

This game should be played semi regularly but the arrogance they have on this is mind boggling.

Because historically they’re the second best program in the state and they play in New Orleans

Wouldn't they have to buy all the homes from the NIMBYs living next to the stadium who fricked up the design of Yulman in the first place?

I’m not familiar with all the city codes and all stuff but I believe the AD said Yulman could be expanded by 5-10K if needed.

At some point you would think Tulane could tell the NIMBYs to frick off right?

Stop. Tulane is no more important than Louisiana Tech or ULL.

That the game used to be played annually doesn’t mean anything.

That the school is located in New Orleans doesn’t mean anything. LSU can play in New Orleans against a P5 school any time.

Saying LSU should take a 7 figure haircut just because is myopic at best, idiotic at worst.

LSU played at Tulane in 2007 and won a natty. They clearly haven’t recovered

And took a bath on it because Tulane sold almost no tickets for their half.

The larger problem is why play anywhere but Tiger Stadium? Even with a Dome matchup, you're 84 miles away from a venue with an additional 40k seats.

To be fair, they were head to head with the #1 game.

How long is that going to last? 1 or 2 more years?
