In 2018, I think, a high school senior hit a pothole in her convertible. It flipped and killed her instantly.
So glad I left that shithole.

I was in Jackson about 4 years ago and ate at a Cock of the Walk…that should tell you something.

I do have one fond memory of Jackson. Little Feat played a show there in the 70’s and it was great.

That was actually in Ridgeland.

And Cock of the Walk is awesome. And until now I didn’t realize it was a chain. The one in LR closed like 4 years ago.

Original Cock of the Walk was family owned in Natchez. Located Under the Hill.
Once they franchised out, quality went down. Don’t even have one in Natchez anymore.

. For the capital of a state, Jackson lacked far less resources than other non-capital cities. Their zoo is a joke, no aquarium, no sports teams or venues, no restaurants, or family-friendly attractions.
Jackson does have nice museums and restaurants, even some pretty neighborhoods still. But the zoo is underfunded, in the ghetto, and the planetarium has been closed for years now, which was always a cool attraction when I was a kid. North Jackson has really gone down in the last 20 years. You have working class people living next door to drug houses.
The real kicker here is that there are zero competent people in line to run the city in the future, and even if there was, they couldn't get elected.

The only one left I know of is the one in Ridgeland and it opened in 1981. It's always been the best.

Not kidding I’m going to plan a weekend trip to Jackson to go. This is blowing my mind. The Cock of the Walk in North Little Rock was so legit.

It’s not far from Brandon which means, regardless of skin color, dirty fricking cops are still out there. The only thing they care about is money and power.

I've lived in Stankin' Rankin for the past 25 years, don't commit any crimes and you'll have nothing to worry about.

Finally sold my fathers house in NE Jackson. Was a blessing. No more beggarson the side of the road, no more tense drives. If only they could move I55 East, or west, it would be awesome.

Shedding a small tear here. Lived there for a nono-second in 2003. The Dock, Poet's, Last Call, Recovery Room, BWW, TimeOut, McB's, some liberal college bars on the bad side. Wasn't all that bad, but chicks only wanted to know where you went to High School.
That was 20 years ago. I hear some of those places are still open.

Still another one in Pocahontas, West of Madison and South of Flora. Not a fan though because they bought out my childhood/teenage years place, Catfish Haven. It was also far better than anything Cock of the Walk could throw down on a plate

Unless the squad, formerly known as the Goon Squad has something to say about it. Unfortunately, I have different in-law family members up there that have said for the two decades I’ve listened to them that it was as crooked as a run over snake. Central Mississippi ain’t changed that much, no more than Louisiana, the only difference is that the cops in Mississippi got caught first.

I have had to work in downtown Jackson recently. I was told I could not use the bathroom past the first floor in a high rise building because they couldn’t get pressure higher than that. This was a statement made to me in 2023.
