Wanted the gulf fish. Our waiter said they only serve Swai now. Had to Google it - Asian catfish sometimes called Basa. And if you order a catfish poboy, they tell you it is swai and ask you if that's OK. Frozen asian farm raised. WTF Acme? Was in BR. Apparently NOLA too. You only see "flaky white fish" on the menu... NOLA menu

we had to Google it(?) That doesn't say squat. I expected redfish or black drum at the least. I was embarrassed to bring a group of 12 from out of town for a taste of local seafood and have to tell them the ONLY fish they have is frozen shite from China. NOBODY knew what swai was, sorry you/we do. This is Louisiana, you don't EVEN have catfish? Forced to buy another bottom feeder from China? no thanks. What happened to crappy tilapia? Acme just cheaping out bc people apparently don't care enough.

If the menu only says “fish”, I don’t order it.

They should be ashamed of themselves.

Swai has been the name for Talapia for half a dozen years now.

Should have brought them 100yds west to Parrains if you wanted and actual representative meal. You went to Texas Roadhouse and expected the steak to be wagyu.

Christ… how do you not at least have catfish on the menu? That’s embarrassing.

They are both garbage, but Swai is a completely different fish than Tilapia.

Swai……….

I've heard a lot of people prefer swai to catfish, less fish taste and everything.

I wonder if the roast beef poboy is capybara? It isn't even about quality or taste, I support the local fishermen, screw Acme.

Wish you would have asked this board for a suggestion before going to Acme. Many better options.

I agree with you that they serve shite and have no reason to sell imported junk.

Does it read “catfish” poboy on the menu? I thought if it was basa/swai, it had to just read “fish”.

Uncle T’s in Scott, at least last time I went, served swai instead of catfish. I wanted a catfish poboy, but asked the waitress about it before I ordered, and that’s what I was told. Their menu just stated “fish poboy”. So I ordered something else.

In it's defense, Swai actually tastes decent. I'm sure they eat shite and aborted fetuses, as well as other literal trash while swimming around on their Mekong River "farms" though

I don’t think it’s unrealistic to expect catfish at an ACME. I don’t eat there but idk.

Small correction: most of the Swai is from Vietnam, not China. You may see some from Cambodia too.
