Doing some early Christmas shopping. There are so damn choices I don’t know where to turn.

I want to purchase 1 basketball box and 1 baseball box. Roughly $150 to $300 to spend on each box.

Which box should I get?

Which site should i purchase from?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Are these boxes full of trading cards or just empty boxes? And what brand are these cards?

That is kinda the cheapest boxes out there, I say spend a little more on Donruss Optic.

RR Color.

Breaking is a waste imo. Hobby boxes are just ridiculous from shtty Panini. Buy singles for someone that they PC.

Screw that. Take that $600 and buy a couple old cards (Mantle, Williams, etc), or a few new, single rare cards.

Try Dave and Adam’s Card World. Sometimes you can buy older boxes for a discount. For baseball I always liked Bowman Chrome but I don’t know if they sell them anymore though.

Email me if you decide to go the singles route. If not, could source you a decent hobby box.

Buy them a box or two, and then give them a Visa giftcard to cover the costs of getting their potential finds graded.

Maybe wait till bowman draft comes out so you have a shot at skenes or crews. Usually released later in year.

For basketball and football Prizm is the standard, followed by Optic then Select (optic has better looking and "cooler" cards than select)

As far as baseball you gotta go Bowman Chrome or Draft (a Jackson Holliday draft card has a half million bounty on it right now)

There are more elite options, but we're talking thousands per pack of 6 cards
(Flawless, Immaculate, National Treasure)

My kids are into trading cards. Believe it or not, the hat store “Lids” sells a bunch of topps brands. They carry the more expensive and premium hobby boxes as well as blasters and smaller packs. Target also has a decent selection but you might catch the ghey shopping there.

Panini and Topps are the best. The value varies from set to set, but you usually get what you pay for. Some have guaranteed autographs and patches (usually hobby boxes).

If you are interested in a set, watch someone break a box on YouTube so you have an idea what you are looking at before you buy. Odds are, you won’t get close to making your money back, it’s just for the fun and thrill of it.

I collect cards. Would anybody be interested in a continual thread for those in the hobby? Started back last year because of my sons and it is fun to feel like a kid again.

You aren't getting hobby boxes for $150 to $300.

Man I saw a pack of baseball cards at Walmart the other day selling for $25 a pack. I stopped and double checked. And I doubt they even have gum in them.

Don't invest in items that can be recreated or reproducted

Just go buy silver

You're welcome
