so you don't get the correlation between these programs and the transfer of wealth?

What about that part do you disagree with?

Yeah, you might be dumb enough to believe that, but for every hundred bucks you receive on your foodstamp card, the politician's family members who are the administrators make 3 hundred.
It's all cool with you though, right? Ain't no sweat for you.

so you’re saying 75% of the cost of food stamps are the politicians.
so why the frick is ginger talking about fudgerounds.
i’m not gonna come in here and complain about a song about politicians grifting.
but he doesn’t talk about that.

That's exactly what he's talking about, you might not be able to understand it though. You aint slick on the uptake
He would have to hit you with a ball bat, and if he did that you would be a dead cockroach and your family would be suing somebody.

I'm 99% sure he is an industry plant. There seems to be an underground battle going on in Country Music right now.

bullshite he’s playing up the boot conservative line that wellfair people are why he’s broke.
there isn’t one line saying he hates how politicians like their pockets.
there are more lines about fat people in wellfair than any other topic.

Oliver clearly only punches down.

American Dream by Drayton Farley is a better version of this song without the punching down.

He doesn't have to say it. We all know it.
Everybody but you of course. I guess there's a reason..
I doubt that there are very many here, who mind giving to the truly needy. I know I don't. Some folks make it a family business though.

After listening to the Rich Men North of Richmond a few more times I realize the song is actually pretty badly written.
I went ahead and listened to some of his other stuff on Spotify and he can actually write a decent song so I don’t know why this one blew up. Maybe he is a “plant” or maybe he got really lucky.
His song Doggonit has the same-ish message, but it is written much better with no cringe mentions about fudge-rounds.

I'm not personally offended by any means. I do find it funny that he's attempting to paint a picture of working class solidarity against the elites and politicians, and then turns and pulls out the old "welfare queen" trope. Also that dude has huge tits, he shouldn't be calling anyone fat.
