I can live with that I guess.

You people are weird. You aren't a victim here and don't need to "live" with anything.

Explain what you mean here?

Laura Bush getting away with killing someone driving and none of you wishing she dies or goes to jail for life has to do what with that?

Most people aren’t stuck on a 17 year old running a stop sign in 1963 and killing someone. Ruggs actions were far more wreckless. If you can’t see the difference then there’s no help for you

People make stupid decisions and mistakes especially in this day and age when all you have to do is call Uber or Lyft which in Vegas is not hard to do. The girlfriend could have stepped in as well.

Do I think he deserves life in prison, probably not.

I think he definitely deserves more than 3 and closer to 10

Did he make a massive payoff to the victim's family? That's the only way I can see them signing off on something like this.

Also

Most of the inmates at SCC are assigned to 12-man fire crews working with the Nevada Division of Forestry, which has 22 personnel at the prison.

This sounds a hell of a lot better than sitting in a cell.

Well he pled guilty for one. Usually the incentive for a guilty plea is a reduced sentence.

Next it looks like the maximum term for what he was charged with (felony DUI resulting in fatality) is 20 years. So judge wouldn't even have the authority to issue a life sentence much less the death penalty. Can't have judges creating and adjudicating the law.

According to Nevada Department of Corrections records, Ruggs’ earliest parole eligibility date is Aug. 5, 2026. Ruggs’ maximum incarceration is 120 months, but the Department of Corrections currently calculates his mandatory parole release as July 4, 2027.

Between comments like this and the people defending drunk driving constantly on the OT, I’m alarmed.

Not only that but Nevada has a mandatory parole release which is set at July 4th 2027. He will do 3 years and 11 months in a workers camp at worst. His first parole chance is Aug 5th 2026 at 3 years.
