Hot damn, did it suck arse.
Spoilers:
Leonardo couldn't stfu about how hot and beautiful April was. You ain't fooling anyone with that shite.
Was Donatello a chick, or trans? I seriously couldn't tell.
And they made Master Splinter just Splinter and he's a straight dumb arse in the movie. He's human-phobic and is just an awful character. They turned him into a bumbling idiot.
The animation style made me nauseated a few times. It was like watching roller coaster videos when you're drunk.
If my nephew hadn't asked to go, I'd never pay to see such a steaming pile of crap that strayed so far from the source material, it should be named something else, not TMNT.

When I saw the initial trailer, I admittedly thought it looked cool, but I laughed out loud when I realized they turned April into a frumpy black teenage lesbian.

It was pathetic, honestly. They shite all over the source material. He's an overweight dumb arse, consumed with doritos and other food. He teaches them martial arts by watching old martial arts movies, like the ones from the 80's with subtitles. I guess it was supposed to be funny, but it wasn't. They made him stupid.

Went to the 7:40 at Perkins Rowe with my son tonight. He loved it which is all that matters. I thought the animation was pretty cool. I expected tons of wokeness so it didn’t bother me. If you have teenage kids they’ll probably enjoy it.

I'm so disappointed they let Seth Rogen be involved in making a turtles movie. These characters seem nothing like the actual characters they are supposed to be. The amount of gender swaps and race swaps in this movie is obscene. Changing splinter from a human who became a rat and their father and teacher is beyond retarded.

Here is your new Splinter. He was basically relegated to an overbearing father than a teacher, Sensei, Master. Granted, he was overbearing in the cartoon and comics, but I would argue it was more protective. In the movie, he's just a worrying, helicopter parent that hates humans because he was attacked for being a rat in his origin story.
Then throughout the whole movie, he's a dumb shite that teaches them to fight by making them watch "Kung Fu" and other movies like that. It was light-hearted but fell completely flat as to how they were trained in martial arts. And he NEVER becomes a martial arts master, teacher, or anything. He stays as a dumbass the whole movie.

I'll give them this. If you had no background whatsoever into the the TMNT's, I can see kids liking the movie. And maybe that was the demographic they were aiming at. But people that grew up with the TMNT will not recognize any of them at all, except for their skins. Nothing about them resembles the source material.

They’ve changed a lot of stuff with the various TV shows over the years I’ve noticed. You’re right, my 6 year old wouldn’t notice or care.
I’ve seen most of the TV shows and they’re ok. We’ve tried watching the original and honestly they just don’t hold up animation wise for young kids. It’s tough to watch.

Original April was kinda hot.
But this version?
TBH, TMNT wasn’t my thing. But the story of how the 2 artist came up with & developed the concept is fascinating.
