some edgy atheist claims that this is in fact a bad thing because cancer is a necessary culling agent for an aging population/over-population.
Lol. This isn’t really something atheists would say or worry about

Whats funny about this is the "science" crowd would have picked one treatment, say chemo, and not let you do any other and call it horse cancer treatment if you wanted to try other methods.
Imagine thinking that scientists all agree with each other.

Over 1,000 health professionals sign a letter saying, Don’t shut down protests using coronavirus concerns as an excuse
quote:
The letter – which went on to draw more than 1,200 signatures – focuses on techniques to reduce harm to people protesting racial injustice.
“We created the letter in response to emerging narratives that seemed to malign demonstrations as risky for the public health because of Covid-19,” according to the letter writers.
“Instead, we wanted to present a narrative that prioritizes opposition to racism as vital to the public health, including the epidemic response. We believe that the way forward is not to suppress protests in the name of public health but to respond to protesters demands in the name of public health, thereby addressing multiple public health crises.”
quote:
“However, as public health advocates, we do not condemn these gatherings as risky for COVID-19 transmission. We support them as vital to the national public health and to the threatened health specifically of Black people in the United States. We can show that support by facilitating safest protesting practices without detracting from demonstrators’ ability to gather and demand change. This should not be confused with a permissive stance on all gatherings, particularly protests against stay-home orders.”

Over 1,000 health professionals
I could find a thousand people that believe the earth is flat. You realize there are around 8 billion people on this earth right?
Not to mention health professionals =/= scientists.

Exactly. There is no money in the cure. Imaging how many people would be out of work if there was an actual cure for cancer.
Do you imagine people will be unwilling to pay for a cure?

Not that I think one miracle pill would cure something as complex and diverse as cancer anyway
This is the point everyone is missing. Cancer is not like a disease like chickenpox. Cancer has innumerable forms and many have not been defined. One pill is not going to cover all types of cancer.

It'll get approved, it'll just cost $30k per pill.

Wut? Big pharma just charges $100k for the treatment
Have you ever had to look at the drugs and cost of many cancer treatments/therapies long term? It’s a cash cow for pharma .. charging 100k for one treatment that works is a drop In the bucket when you add the laundry list of drugs and therapies that go with cancer..
