At what point in this heat do vehicles start to break down? Mechanical failures, tires melting/flattening, etc?

I know this is unprecedented heat and is only going to get worse. Started carrying a cooler with water in case I break down on my daily commute. Any temp limitations y’all know of?

You should get a horse and buggy. Gas powered cars are just evil.

I'm pretty sure its been hot in desert environments since cars were introduced and they seem to work fine there. Seems to me cold weather affects vehicles more than hot weather.

First...

Second, how much hotter do you think 101 is compared to 95 when it comes to rubber tires or mechanical parts...which are both immensely hotter thanks to friction and not climate change?

Did you forget to sign in as el gaucho?

A cars cooling system is nearly always designed fo run at peak load in a low humidity high temp environment.

The only time I've ever had a vehicle hiccup was the first time I drpve over monarch pass. 11k feet pulling 6k with a vehicle rated for 5k. And i was trying to maintain 70.

Use that water to cool your tires. Pull over every thirty minutes and douse them.

I bring a cooler full of beer to help cope with my depression from the heat.

Not stepping into the bigger mess of your post, but Heat will drain your battery. If anything, excessive heat will likely not let you start your car more than you breaking down mid commute.
