Rivers Edge - most disturbing teen movie?

Man, I just watched this last night and WTFF that was bleak. Not sure if it surpasses "Kids" as most disturbing but it's up there for sure. Maybe throw "Gummo" in the mix too.
Krispin Glover seems like a total psycho. Not sure you can actually play crazy that well without being kinda nuts for real.

No streaming, saw them back when you could rent movies.

Got some wicked dance moves though.

Rivers Edge gets the nod since it's based on a true story.

He’s definitely a weird dude.

It was weird seeing him in that after getting to know him from Back to the Future.
I think this was the movie that also began the modest come back for Dennis Hopper.

Bully is up there as well, and based on a true story.

I asked the OP. Are you new?

WTFF that was bleak

27 Reasons Crispin Glover Is The Weirdest, Most Interesting Dude In Hollywood (on Ranker)
quote:
He Knows You Think He's Weird
Crispin Glover is well aware that most people think he's a pretty odd duck, but he's not particularly bothered by it. Why? Because Crispin Glover as we know him is largely a persona. Glover commented on it during an interview with Chris Hardwick, saying, "I understand that that entity, which I have something to do with, is an external entity, but other people have things to do with it too. So obviously other people are going to say other things and they're commenting on that element that has something to do with me but isn't me.
"If it was really about me, if I somehow genuinely, totally identified as that external element, I guess I'd be upset."
My favorite:

His Middle Name Is Hellion
Yep, Crispin Hellion Glover. His unusual middle name comes from his father. "His middle name is Herbert," Glover said in his Reddit AMA. "He never liked his middle name Herbert. So as a young struggling actor in New York he would say to himself 'I am Bruce H. Glover, Bruce Hellion Glover. I am a hellion a troublemaker.' And that would make him feel good.
"He told my mother this was his real middle name. When they were married she saw him writing on the marriage certificate Bruce Herbert Glover and she thought ‘Who am I marrying?’ They gave Hellion to me as my real middle name.”

Parents were afraid of this movie.
Imagine the time period it came out, mid-80s.
Ferris Beuller and Pretty in Pink came out the same year...Breakfast Club (which was considered dark and risque at the time with teen issues and angst) came out the year before.
I think by the time Kids came out public wasn't shocked what young people were doing.

That's the first one I thought of. Murder scene is rough.

I’m not easily shocked, but Gummo is really out there.
But it’s not a teen movie IMO. It’s just an experimental film made by a guy who has just written a shocking movie that was marketed to a teen and college aged audience, a few years prior.

It doesn’t pass “kids”. A friend of mine brought that one over and I remember watching freshman year of college. Last time I watched anything he recommended.
