Shhhhhh...

The lack of seafood is the only issue. I prefer the North Carolina/Virginia coast for that but we stayed within a one day drive of our parents in LA.

Texas. They fix things here instead of waiting for someone else to fix it

When I retire I just want to find a spot in the Appalachians or Ozarks where I can camp and fish with the grandkids whenever I want and people will leave me the frick alone. I guess a lot will depend on where my kids end up. I don't want to be on the other side of the country from the grandkids.

This thread is for people living in Louisiana who are fed up with corrupt politicians, failing public schools, insurance rates, sweltering heat, heavy storms, an abundance of welfare recipients, homelessness, crawfish prices, whatever has you wishing you were somewhere else.

I think the major problem with our state is that everywhere want to blame “they” instead of trying to fix a problem. Don’t like EBR, let’s leave. Don’t like the education system, let’s leave. Don’t like the state, let’s leave. Just a bunch of moaners, complainers and quitters on this board. Roll up your sleeves and fix something already.

That being said, I’m tired of floods, hurricanes and 100 degree weather. I’d probably move somewhere near Charlotte, NC.

You can’t fix ghetto and crime. We don’t choose who runs for office, most people I vote for never get elected. You may say we can choose, but working 2 jobs and 3 kids is hard enough. I have spent years picking up trash on roads to only see litter just as bad 2 days later. Oh, and my last time was 5 years ago, fun being robbed by 2 people with knives while picking up trash in Shreveport. I’ve been to plenty of council meetings and school board meeting and expressed my concerns, nobody cares here.

If you read other threads on this board, I think they are trying, but failing. I think Louisiana’s issue is too far gone at this point. You’d have to enact some serious, insensitive tactics to undo what’s been done to beautiful Louisiana.

I moved from Lake Providence La to Little Rock for work. Had no family tying me down. Really enjoyed LP but don't regret making the move.

Compton isn't even as bad as it was in the 80s. White millenials and Gen Z college grads are gentrifying the frick out of South central LA now. The median home price in Compton is now at least $600,000. And the houses in that area are tiny as frick

You left out shitty roads, overgrown grass, trash, dilapidated buildings and bridges.

If money weren’t a factor I would love to move to the hill country of Texas. I want to be far enough out to escape the crazy traffic and congestion that is all around Austin. Live in some sprawling golf community with big lots. That would be nice but also very $$$

My SIL lives outside of Chattanooga and I could see myself living there.

This is what I’m thinking.
My career/industry kind of pushes me toward staying in south La or southeast TX. Making way too much money to give that up currently and I need to stay around here for my parents for the time being.

Kid will be out of high school soon. Depending on parents living arrangements and work from home options, I’m guessing in two to three years we can make a move.
In addition to the coast, eastern TN and NC seems ideal.
