He definitely has the yips
He’s noticeably flinching and shite when he shoots the ball. The timing on his release has been different almost everytime. Noticed it on his free throws a few games back and it’s carried over to his regular shots as well.
It would be one thing if he was like Dyson (who can shoot 2-10 from 3) and still have a good overall game. But Hawkins has nothing else going for him.
People are referencing Buddy’s summer league, but even that is a lot better than what we are seeing from Hawkins rn.
I’m hoping wide arse open shots playing off of Z, Ingram, CJ and Jonas will alleviate some of this.
But at the same time, he is so horrendous at everything else, I’m not sure I could put him on the floor over Dyson, Naji, Jose or even Kira tbh.

By the way Gradey Dick had a solid good game last night. It was impressive seeing him drive and play solid defense. For people who said Hawkins and Dick are similar, the difference always was Dick can do just more than shoot.

I also don't see how the G league would help hawkins. His only path to an nba career is playing off stars and hitting open shots. He's not going to get that in the G league and he damn sure isn't going to go there and magically learn how to dribble and create separation. Literally his only chance is to be on the pels and somehow get on the court which Willie will never let him touch the court unless we are very injured

Whitmore has seemed like a top 3-4 athlete in summer league. He’s got serious speed and bounce. His athleticism is the type that will also stand out on an nba court.

Hawkins -5 on the +/- . Only Pels player. Hope all this passes, but he has stunk up the house every damn game.
